Just when you think the Hot Seat has spared the members of SIP, it appears when you least expect it. This week’s target is JR1203, a long time zombie slayer and radiation visualizer. To learn more about him, hit the jump!
If you access our website using a mobile device or tablet and have had difficulties reading posts or tapping links, we’ve deployed a solution just for you: a new responsive theme designed with large fingers in mind.
This week’s Hot Seat is primed for one of our longstanding members from our days on Bungie.net. Today I was able to turn the tables on jingraham and ask him a few questions about what makes him tick as the man behind the colloquially-named “jing burn”. Surprisingly, its meaning in the Court of Oryx is different from when he’s in a court of law. Hit the jump to read his interview!
The Hot Seat interview is an opportunity to feature the members of the Spartan I Project that make a valuable contribution to the community, whether it’s activity on the forum, assisting our achievement teams, or both (which is the best option!). In this iteration, I asked (read: compelled) our newest team member Kirbstomp55 to answer a few questions so we can get to know him a little better.

Last week, SpecOp3 reached his 50th Flawless Raider run and is the first among the Grim Raiders to reach a team milestone. Neither Crota nor his minions have had much success in thwarting his determination to help fellow Guardians with arguably the most difficult achievement in Destiny.
As team captain, SpecOp3 has led most of the runs in sprinting through the Abyss and handling the sword in Crota’s room. He has also streamed Flawless runs on Twitch, showcasing the friendliness of SIP members and spreading the word about our community. Since the team was formed on May 25, 2015, over 150 people have become members on SIP, with a significant portion of those requesting help with Flawless Raider.
Please join me in congratulating SpecOp3 on this milestone of 50 flawless raids, and wishing him luck on the next 50!
The Grim Raiders is one of the Spartan I Project’s achievement teams, and is dedicated to helping Guardians unlock the Flawless Raider achievement in Destiny. To request help, please visit this thread and include your gamertag and available play time.
The Spartan I Project’s Destiny clan on Bungie.net has been a constant source of new members looking to join one of the site’s most popular groups. One member in particular has been quite active every day, with more posts than one of our newest moderators. I asked if he would be interested in answering a few questions for the community to find out what drew him to SIP, and what keeps him coming back for more. Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome MrSerrano1105 to the Hot Seat.
ContactTango and I are pleased to announce that four members will be joining the moderation staff today. They have distinguished themselves in terms of service to the community, activity on the forum, and participation on our achievement teams. We are welcoming NeoRman69, wrcfan, SpecOp3, and Stig Assassin to the staff and congratulating them on their promotion to the forum rank of Commander. These new additions to the staff will assist in advancing the presence of SIP and its achievement teams in the greater gaming community as well as recruiting and retaining new members on our website.
I am also announcing that three moderators will be trading in their banhammers for a new life as an Exalted Honor Guard of the community. Please join me in thanking Flatty, Dark Infinity, and SnakeDoctor214 for their service to the community as team captains and moderators. Their counsel was invaluable to the staff during their years of service and will be missed.
The Communiqué team has shown consistent dedication to the Spartan I Project in bringing news from the gaming industry to our doorstep every week. By filtering out the noise and including what’s important, the team performs an invaluable service to all members of SIP.
In recognition of their hard work, I am promoting ROK198 and TravisSch to the rank of Lieutenant, effective immediately.
In recognition of his efforts on the Communiqué team as well as his service to multiple teams during his tenure in SIP, the staff have decided to grant Stig Assassin (formerly known as Pokenut) the Community Service Award, which is awarded for years of excellent service to SIP.
Please join me in congratulating ROK198, TravisSch, and Stig Assassin!
Today, the Spartan I Project celebrates the seventh anniversary of its founding on Bungie.net, and seven years of making friends, blowing stuff up, and unlocking achievements.
It only takes a few button presses to start an online community, but it takes the combined effort of all of its members to keep it going strong. Whether you’re a member of one of our achievement teams, a spam-a-holic, or a new member looking to join our Destiny clan, every single member has contributed to the continuing success of SIP. To everyone, thank you for your dedication to this community.
As part of the celebration, Shoutbox access is being temporarily extended to all members. In addition, the front page is getting a graphical overhaul. If you like what you see, let us know! If you find something that needs to be fixed or have a suggestion as to how to make it better, be sure to tell us that as well.
Most people would understandably run away from zombie outbreak or an infestation of Hive. It takes a special kind of person to run towards one of these apocalyptic events and Trysten is certainly one of them. Today, I sat him down in the hot seat to talk about how he manages to be a veteran member of SIP by day, and zombie-killer/crime-perpetrator/raider by night.
