The 12th game in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 4, was released today for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 platforms. A launch trailer for the multiplayer mode was simultaneously published, and showcases combat on the ground, in the water, and in the skies. If you listen carefully, you may even hear a cameo from a semi-popular character on YouTube:
Battlefield 4 is also being released on the Xbox One and PS4 platforms later in November. If you purchase a current-gen copy, you can upgrade to the corresponding next-gen version for as low as $9.99, but in most cases you have until December 31, 2013 to take advantage of this offer. If you played the Battlefield 4 Beta earlier this month, you probably have a taste of what to expect in the multiplayer mode. Now, DICE has released the official trailer for the single player mode. Check it out below:
Battlefield 4 releases for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 in one week’s time (October 29, 2013). It is also releasing for the Xbox One on November 19 (Nov. 22 in Europe) and PS4 on November 12 (Nov. 29 in Europe).
Killagruntjaro let us know yesterday that the Xbox 360 achievement list for Battlefield 4 was added to the x360a website. There are 42 achievements worth a total of 1000 gamerscore. Of all the achievements, only five can be earned in multiplayer; the rest are in the Campaign. More multiplayer achievements will likely be added with future DLC packs.

TravisSch shared with us the newest trailer for Battlefield 4’s multiplayer today. In only three minutes and sixteen seconds, the trailer demonstrates Commander Mode, Levolution, vehicular warfare on land, sea, and air, kit customization, and spectator mode.
DICE was on hand at the EA Gamescom 2013 press conference to share more details about Battlefield 4. Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE General Manager, discussed the Beta for Battlefield 4, “Levolution”, the benefits of going Premium, a new map, and a new game mode called Obliteration.

Campaign gameplay in the mission “Angry Sea” from Battlefield 4 was shown at the Xbox E3 Media Briefing today:
Battlefield 4 is scheduled for release on October 29, 2013. If you pre-order the game, you will receive the BF4 China Rising expansion pack at no additional cost. This pack includes four new maps, brand new vehicles, and high-tech gear. In addition, the first DLC entitled “Second Assault” will be made available post-launch, first for Xbox One gamers. It includes four fan-favourite maps from Battlefield 3, remade in the Frostbite 3 engine.
BREQ stopped by to let us know that the double XP event that was originally scheduled for this past weekend (but postponed due to a denial-of-service attack) has been rescheduled for the weekend of May 23-27. Starting at 5am EDT on May 23 and running for 96 hours, you’ll be able to level up twice as fast and accumulating progress towards your service stars on all maps and modes across all platforms (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC).

UPDATE: DICE has taken all Battlefield 3 servers offline in response to an ongoing denial of service attack on the back-end infrastructure. As a result, the DXP event has not started on time. When the servers are back up, we’ll let you know.
