Communiqué Under New Management

How we show up as an organization is incredibly important to us. We want to build and reflect the culture of SIP – internally and externally – a culture that each one of us can represent with pride. An inclusive culture has a direct impact on the activities and services we deliver and the perception the community has of the SIP brand and our group, as a whole.

It has come to our attention that Stig Assassin has represented The Spartan I Project in a way that was absolutely not consistent or aligned to our values. That was unequivocally wrong and will not be tolerated. This matter is being handled internally, but let me be very clear – how we represent ourselves as individuals, who we hire and partner with and how we engage with others is a direct reflection of our brand and what we stand for. When we do the opposite, and create an environment that alienates or offends any group, we justly deserve the criticism.

It’s unfortunate that such events could take place in a week where we worked so hard to engage the many different gaming communities in the exact opposite way. We are personally committed to ensuring that diversity and inclusion is central to our everyday business and our core values as a team – inside and outside the group. We need to hold ourselves to higher standards and we will do better in the future.

As of now, all of Stig Assassin’s former responsibilities will be handled by Slashing Arbiter and myself until a replacement is found.

The Road to Achilles

Achilles Banner

We here at the Spartan I Project would like to both recognize and congratulate our members that have been putting all their blood, sweat, and tears into grinding towards the epic under taking that is the Achilles Armor: Seth, Tango, and Chick for their amazing Grifball devastation, those boys won’t be getting back on the field anytime soon. Seth for his amazing snipes and making sure everyone wears their seatbelts. Panther going hog wild and his incredible turret manning skills. Tooth for being the king of the bronze league, you teach those boys how to hold a gun properly. Soryiu for being the fourth horseman of the apocalypse, seriously how are you still even allowed into matchmaking? As well as all the others not mentioned here.

We recognize that we all have very busy schedules, and we appreciate all the time and dedication you all are putting in. However, we have noticed that there are a few members that haven’t been actively participating. We are sending this letter out as a reminder to jump into a few matchmaking games, and finish that fight. It doesn’t matter if it’s a game of Arena, Big Team, Grifball, or Warzones; we just ask that you contribute to the effort.

Any members that don’t care to participate will be removed from the active roster and may rejoin after the Achilles commendation is completed. If you have mitigating circumstances that prevent you from currently participating, but wish to contribute, please contact the Staff. Thank you again for all your hard work and effort.

-The Spartan I Project

Changing of the Guard

ContactTango and I are pleased to announce that four members will be joining the moderation staff today. They have distinguished themselves in terms of service to the community, activity on the forum, and participation on our achievement teams. We are welcoming NeoRman69, wrcfan, SpecOp3, and Stig Assassin to the staff and congratulating them on their promotion to the forum rank of Commander. These new additions to the staff will assist in advancing the presence of SIP and its achievement teams in the greater gaming community as well as recruiting and retaining new members on our website.

I am also announcing that three moderators will be trading in their banhammers for a new life as an Exalted Honor Guard of the community. Please join me in thanking Flatty, Dark Infinity, and SnakeDoctor214 for their service to the community as team captains and moderators. Their counsel was invaluable to the staff during their years of service and will be missed.

A communiqué about our Communiqué team

The Communiqué team has shown consistent dedication to the Spartan I Project in bringing news from the gaming industry to our doorstep every week. By filtering out the noise and including what’s important, the team performs an invaluable service to all members of SIP.

In recognition of their hard work, I am promoting ROK198 and TravisSch to the rank of Lieutenant, effective immediately.

In recognition of his efforts on the Communiqué team as well as his service to multiple teams during his tenure in SIP, the staff have decided to grant Stig Assassin (formerly known as Pokenut) the Community Service Award, which is awarded for years of excellent service to SIP.

Please join me in congratulating ROK198, TravisSch, and Stig Assassin!

SIP celebrates its 7th birthday today!

SIP_7year

Today, the Spartan I Project celebrates the seventh anniversary of its founding on Bungie.net, and seven years of making friends, blowing stuff up, and unlocking achievements.

It only takes a few button presses to start an online community, but it takes the combined effort of all of its members to keep it going strong. Whether you’re a member of one of our achievement teams, a spam-a-holic, or a new member looking to join our Destiny clan, every single member has contributed to the continuing success of SIP. To everyone, thank you for your dedication to this community.

As part of the celebration, Shoutbox access is being temporarily extended to all members. In addition, the front page is getting a graphical overhaul. If you like what you see, let us know! If you find something that needs to be fixed or have a suggestion as to how to make it better, be sure to tell us that as well.

2014 Community Members Appreciation

Hey, what happened to the 2014 MotY award? Don’t those normally take place roughly a month and a half ago?

Well, my children, 2015 is here and it wouldn’t be the case if 2014 wasn’t there to help us get to where we are now (award for most obvious statement of the year goes to..). This past year we’ve seen incredible people leave their marks on our community with their selfless contributions. As a replacement to what is normally our Member of the Year award, we decided instead to take a look at 2014’s biggest contributors and figure out what they’re all about. We wanted to take our time to thank everyone that’s been a part of SIP whether past or present, and to give our MVPs a chance to talk a bit about the group and themselves. I’d like to apologize in advance for releasing a piece about 2014 three months into the next year, but it was a project that took a great amount of care and as a result, time (and some people take their sweet ol’ nannies time answering interview questions (I keed, I keed)).

If you’re interested in taking a step back and looking at what made 2014 the year that it was, please follow the link and read the full story. I know it looks like a lot of text but I assure you, it’s all worth the time to read. It’s been a great ride so far, so hope you enjoy this little community project! Thanks.

SIP’s Official Destiny Clan is now active

I announced a week and a half ago that we were using a new group as SIP’s clan for Destiny because activation of clan features for a private group is a founder-only privilege. Now that Mahdi has made a triumphant return to SIP, our original group/old home is now our official Destiny clan.

If you are already a member of SIP on B.net, all you need to do is set it as your Xbox and/or PlayStation clan. If you’re not yet a member, you can join today! (Admin approval of membership is not required) If you were a member of the interim clan, please switch over to the official clan as soon as possible. Also, please tell clanmates who might not check in online about this news. Clan features on the interim clan will be disabled in the near future.

Lastly, we have members gearing up their Guardians so they can figure out strategies for the Vault of Glass raid and ultimately help others complete the raid in true SIP fashion. Stay tuned for more details on the possibility of a new achievement team for this activity.
