With the release of the Xbox One less than a month away, Microsoft is starting their advertising campaign. Here is their new ad, entitled “Invitation,” that will be shown on television starting this Sunday on Sunday Night Football on NBC (in the United States). BREQ stopped by the forums to let people know that Microsoft has officially revealed the release date for the Xbox One. The Xbox One will hit store shelves on November 22nd, 2013. The console will launch in 13 markets (Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA) with more markets to follow in 2014.
Major Nelson posted this morning on his blog about the signups for the next Xbox 360 beta being available. This gives you the opportunity to test out the new dashboard before it is released to the public. Major Nelson says that this will include updates to improve overall performance and the ability to conduct transactions with local currency, as Microsoft Points will be retired later this year.
Earlier today, Microsoft posted an update on the Xbox Wire to explain some changes to their policies for the Xbox One. The two policies that gamers were questioning were the policies on the 24-hour check-in and the ability to trade or lend games to friends.
Darkened Night stopped by to drop an interesting read from Major Nelson’s blog about the new features of the Xbox Live achievement system for the Xbox One. The biggest change is the addition of time-based challenges as a separate type of achievement.
Smart Match is a new feature of the Xbox One and was mentioned only in passing during the Microsoft E3 Media Briefing. Yesterday, Major Nelson published a post on his blog discussing the Smart Match system being rolled out with the Xbox One. The most significant impact on matchmaking is that you won’t have to wait in the pre-game lobby for players – once you have started searching, you can switch to another activity, such as watching a TV show or checking out the forums on SIP. Once players have been found, you’ll be notified and be prompted to switch back to your game.

That’s right folks, Lionhead has released a teaser trailer for an upcoming remake of the first Fable! The game will feature snazzy new graphics and animation, ear popping achievements, and include all of the content found in The Lost Chapters section of the later re-release of the original game. Most fans can all agree that Fable The Lost Chapters was the best the Fable franchise had to offer and now everyone that either hasn’t played or wants to revisit will now have the opportunity to experience its beauty!
