Gold members on the Xbox One will be able to pick up Chariot, while those on the Xbox 360 will be treated to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Darksiders II. Stig Assassin let us know late last week that Major Nelson revealed the games to be released for free in September 2014 as part of Microsoft’s Games with Gold promotion. Xbox One gamers will still be able to pick up Crimson Dragon as its promotion time has been extended from August. They will also be able to download Super Time Force for the entire length of September.

Stig Assassin let us know yesterday that Major Nelson posted the games available for free to Xbox Live Gold members for the month of July as part of Microsoft’s Games with Gold promotion. Starting on July 2, Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition can be downloaded for free on the Xbox One. Max: The Curse of Brotherhood was free in June and will continue to be available for free in July.
On the Xbox 360, Gold members can download Gotham City Impostors from the 1st to 15th, and BattleBlock Theater from the 16th to 31st.

June marks the one-year anniversary of Microsoft’s Games with Gold promotion, and also the first month it is being extended to the Xbox One console. Max: The Curse of Brotherhood and Halo: Spartan Assault will be available for free to XBL Gold members when the next console update is deployed (they won’t be available on the 1st of the month).
On the Xbox 360, Dark Souls will be available for free from the 1st to 15th, and both Charlie Murder and Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be available for free from the 16th to 30th.

I was asked to write up my impressions on the Xbox One system so far. I have owned the system since last Thursday when I got it a day early. However, I did not actually turn it on until midnight Friday so I wouldn’t get banned from Xbox Live. Here are my thoughts on the system so far and the Kinect sensor that is included.
With the release of the Xbox One less than a month away, Microsoft is starting their advertising campaign. Here is their new ad, entitled “Invitation,” that will be shown on television starting this Sunday on Sunday Night Football on NBC (in the United States). BREQ stopped by the forums to let people know that Microsoft has officially revealed the release date for the Xbox One. The Xbox One will hit store shelves on November 22nd, 2013. The console will launch in 13 markets (Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA) with more markets to follow in 2014.

Major Nelson posted this morning on his blog about the signups for the next Xbox 360 beta being available. This gives you the opportunity to test out the new dashboard before it is released to the public. Major Nelson says that this will include updates to improve overall performance and the ability to conduct transactions with local currency, as Microsoft Points will be retired later this year.
