Welcome | What we offer | History of SIP | What's the story behind the name?

Thank you for visiting The Spartan I Project! We want to welcome you to our group and invite you to join our friendly community. The following information is provided to inform visitors about our group, our purpose, activity, events, and our services.

Since its inception in May 2008, The Spartan I Project has become the largest & most recognized group within the online community on by helping online gamers obtain achievements, skill and rank levels. The group originally focused on the Halo franchise, but over the years, our members have brought more to the community than imaginable. We now support more than just Halo. SIP has a range of gaming activity including Call of Duty, Gears of War, and so much more!

SIP is committed to providing a friendly and entertaining social gaming experience, a forum in which to discuss gaming with a non-judgmental group of individuals, and the opportunity to make new friends and feel welcomed. The goal is simple: Make friends, Blow stuff up, Unlock achievements.

What do we offer?
SIP has eight achievement teams consisting of skilled and experienced gamers that volunteer their time to help members with difficult achievements and feats in video games. Our teams support the following achievements:
  • Vidmaster achievements in Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST (Annual, Deja Vu, and Endure)
  • Scoring achievements in Halo 3: ODST Firefight
  • LASO weekly challenges in Halo: Reach
  • Special Ops in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and 3
  • Zombie achievements in Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • Horde achievements in Gears of War 2 and 3
Our teams have been recognized numerous times for their speed, skill, and dedication. Our Annualists have set a world-record time for a single Vidmaster: Annual run at 12 minutes, 26 seconds. Not to be outdone, our Highwaymen and Punishers have set their own milestones for Deja Vu and Endure, respectively. Most notably, the Annualists' team captain, ContactTango, was recently recognized for completing 700 Annual runs.

Our community also helps with achievements in Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Minecraft, and numerous other games, all on a volunteer basis.

After all the achievements are out of the way, our Community Game Nights team organizes events where members can game together (or against each other). They range from New Member's Nights where new members are introduced to more veteran members, to weekly Saturday Night Main Events, where members show the moderation staff who's really the boss. ;)

Of course, we also offer a forum where members can engage in stimulating discussion of the current state of video games and other topics. Every week, our Communiqué team compiles all of the week's news into a one-stop shop to get updated on what's going on in the gaming industry and SIP.

History of SIP
The Spartan I Project (SIP) was founded on May 8, 2008 by Paul, now known as Mahdi. SIP was a private group on, the dedicated Halo fan site for Bungie, the games' developer. Paul's intention was to create a community where casual gamers could meet and have fun as well as pick up achievements, especially Halo 3's campaign metascoring achievements. The group had its ups and downs, one of the worst being when the group was conquered and shut down, though its members were able to pick up the pieces and rebuild the group to become a well-known force on the main forums.

In January of 2009, the Annual Team was formed by ContactTango and Deco C (now known as TopdeK). This was SIP's first official achievement team, a small group of dedicated individuals who got the art of Halo 3's Vidmaster: Annual down to a fine science. Other teams were formed with the release of Halo 3: ODST whose further Vidmaster achievements would allow the player to unlock Recon armor for their Halo 3 Spartan character. Eventually, with the sudden growth in membership thanks to the teams and open community environment, SIP became the biggest and one of the most active private groups on and currently has over 10,500 members.

With these numbers, the staff decided to take a chance and move SIP into its own part of cyberspace where SIP would have many more opportunities to grow and help gamers reach their achievement goals across various game titles.

What's the story behind the name?
The ORION project or the SPARTAN I Project was the first phase of the SPARTAN program. Initiated in 2491, as an element of the ORION project, we are this first generation of volunteer warriors.

The apex of UNSC colonization would come in 2492, when more then 800 worlds were under human control and were at various stages of development. By this time, a ring of Outer Colonies was providing the United Nations with the raw materials that made the macro-economy work; the political power, however, remained with the before mentioned Inner Colonies. The massive difference in wealth distribution and political power, which became a hallmark of humanity by this period, led to new threats of secession from the outer ring.

Fearing the consequences of the breakup of the interstellar empire and seeing the benefits of avoiding all-out war to defend their hold on the colonies, the UNSC would embark on the SPARTAN I Project. The SPARTAN Project was created to bolster the offensive and defensive capabilities in the escalating conflict with the armies of the Covenant. The United Nations Space Command commissioned wide ranging programs of research into the creation of Spartan-grade soldiers.

The predecessors to the SPARTAN II Project, the SPARTAN Is were initially created for the Insurrection threat from the 2490s to the 2530s. This was a civil war fought between the United Nations Space Command and various loosely-organized groups of rebels over control of the Outer Colonies. The Spartan I Project produced the ultimate tool to use against the enemies of the UNSC.

Our goal is to keep expanding into new gaming territory and with that we welcome any new skills that will assist us in this venture. We are constantly looking for willing people to step up and participate in teams and have fun gaming. Whether you've come for achievements or to find a great new gaming community, SIP welcomes you. You've definitely come to the right place. Join us today!
