June 10-13

The biggest gaming event of the year is always E3. Almost every company comes together to show off what they have planned for the rest of the year. During this time they will reveal things that were rumored, or completely surprise us with something brand new.

The Sony and Microsoft conferences are sure to focus on the new systems and why each one is better than the others. But what about the games? If they want to sell us a console they should bring in the big guns and have a lot of games to show. Microsoft has made that promise and hopefully they come through. We already know of some games that will be there, but there will still be a surprise or two (Like Usher from last year *sigh*).

If you plan to watch every conference and every moment of footage available then it's going to be a long day for you on the 10th. Things kick off with Microsoft starting their conference at 12:30PM EST. EA and Ubisoft follow during the afternoon with Sony wrapping up the first day with their conference starting at 9PM EST. Each conference will be a minimum of one hour if they run the same amount of time as past years. Get your energy drink of choice, mountain of snacks, and camp with us for the day of big gaming news as it happens!

Pre-Event Speculation
For Sparta!
From the reveal of the Xbox One it was announced that the new console will have 15 exclusives within the first year. Of the 15, eight of them will be new franchises. We already know about Remedy's Quantum Break from the reveal of Xbox One. More recently, the rumor of Crytek's Ryse has been confirmed to be an Xbox One exclusive. That's two confirmed new series and one studio is confirmed to make their big reveal at E3. Black Tusk Studios, formerly known as Microsoft Vancouver, is a new studio that Microsoft has given the task of making "the next halo." Not Halo 5, the next AAA title that will join Microsoft's biggest franchises. According to this article from Xbox360a, Black Tusk has the task of making a total of four new IPs. That would be surprising if true, but the exclusives need to come from somewhere. All together that's six of the eight new IPs that should be covered.
For the seven exclusives continuing a series, we already know about Forza Motorsport 5 and a Halo game is sure to come within the first year. After the One reveal it was confirmed that Rare will have the return of a "historic" IP at the Microsoft E3 conference. What that is we will just have to guess about until it's shown. All together that's nine of the 15 exclusives not including any Kinect sequels, guessing if a new Gears or Fable will happen, or making assumptions with no facts.

According to an article on Gamespot, a new trademark has been filed for a Halo: Bootcamp. They had it confirmed by a Microsoft spokesperson that the game is not connected to 343I's new trilogy. Here is what they had to say: "What's Bootcamp? It is not related to our Xbox One efforts, or the Reclaimer Saga, but rather a project we're very enthusiastic about and will have more to say about in the near future," Is the near future E3? And what is it?
Confirmed as Spartan Assault mobile game.
Get busy, soldier!

Can a bike beat a car?
Over two years ago IGN listed an article on their website about Microsoft looking for a developer to take over the Project Gotham Racing series. It has only been rumors saying that PGR5 will ever appear, but why not now? The series has been a release title with the original Xbox and the 360. Since this is an Xbox exclusive series, we have fifteen of them promised in the first year, and we have a new console coming, it would fit in perfectly. The series was purchased from Bizarre Creations around 2007 and has since been completely silent. Small bits and pieces have been added to Forza over the years, but a full game has not been mentioned as a possibility, yet.

For the last few years we have had a switch between the Modern Warfare and Black Ops series in the Call of Duty franchise. With this year being Infinity Ward's turn, they have decided to branch out to a new series called Ghosts. Your unit is made up of the last few special operation soldiers there are after some event has put the country in danger. We know very little else about this game other than the graphics are improved, the MW2 character Ghost is not in the game, it will be more story driven and we now have a dog on the team. As one of the biggest franchises in gaming it is sure to make an appearance at E3.
These ghosts are not friendly.

This could be interesting.
The complete list of games to be shown at the E3 press conference has possibly leaked. According to this article on Xbox360a, a member of NeoGAF has posted the entire list. This could be completely fake, but rumor or not it's best to provide information when you get it. The surprise games include: Halo 5, Fable IV, Crackdown 3, League of Legends, Killer Instinct, Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty Land, and Halo: Spartan Assault.

League of Legends is a very popular PC game. Having it appear on the Xbox One could be a complete surprise like Diablo 3 was for the PS4. Crackdown 3 was a rumor from before. The symbol of the game appeared on the home menu during the Xbox One reveal event. Spartan Assault is more likely than you think. Microsoft has recently trademarked Halo: Bootcamp, mentioned above, and registered domain names in .com and .net that say Spartan Assault. And the Banjo-Kazooie title is likely the "historic" IP from Rare.
Appears to be fake, but some games may end up true.

Event Reveals

Pre-Event Speculation

Will EA prove to be a force to be reckoned with? Maybe. Star Wars is now in their hands and, while it's not likely to see anything released this year, they have confirmed we will get a glimpse of what future they have in mind. If a Battlefront 3 is shown expect your speakers to blow up from applause as it is the most desired game in the franchise by the majority of Star Wars fans. We also want to know what the fate of 1313 is. Will they complete it or has it fallen into the sarlacc pit never to be heard from again?
EA should listen to Yoda's advice for future titles.

Can you beat the heat?
The new Need For Speed has been announced as Need for Speed: Rivals. It will be the most connected game yet in the series and allows players to share the single player world with a friend while playing different sides of the single player story. If one of you is a cop and your friend drives by, you can chase them down and catch them just like multiplayer, but making progress in the single player story.

Sports. Sports. Sports. You can't get through an EA conference without hearing about the "new" sports games. Right now we have a new UFC, Fifa, Madden and NBA game confirmed for release on the next gen consoles. The one game you can expect to not see is the Tiger Woods series. It will be taking the year off and coming back in 2014. An NHL game is also in development for current gen, so a next gen announcement could be a surprise reveal or just a wait and see for next year. EA Sports has their new Ignite engine to show off so be sure to check that out while waiting for Battlefield 4.
Can't touch this.

Can I get a hand?
As mentioned before on the forum, Battlefield 4 multiplayer gameplay will be shown in the EA press conference. Since this will likely be the high point of the conference for most, don't expect it until at least halfway through. The teaser trailers from before have shown a propeller from what appears to be a submarine and treads from a tank. In the gameplay demo that was shown during the games reveal, these things didn't make an appearance, as far as I could tell. So, E3 will likely be the place to show it off. Expect some heavy firepower from this demo by DICE.

Respawn Entertainment is the new independent company that formed from the former employees of Infinity Ward after the massive lawsuit between them and Activision. They have been secretly working on their first project with very little information that has come out. We know it's a shooter, and EA has signed on as the publisher. Beyond that the details would just be rumors. The company has filed for the trademark of the title "Titan" but that could be a program they use, character, or anything else. It looks like they will be at E3 and maybe we can get a glimpse at what they have planned.
Leaked early by Game Informer as "Titanfall"

There is also another game in development that is some where between a rumor and fact. It appears if you live in Sweden it's a known fact that Mirror's Edge 2 is in development at DICE, according to Benjamin Cousins, the former head of EA Easy studios based in Sweden. It has only been slightly hinted at that the game will have a sequel, but no mention of when that will happen has been said. There have been multiple slip ups in the past few weeks listing Mirror's Edge 2 on Amazon Italy and Germany, as well as the help center of the official EA website. These slip ups make it very likely for the game to make an appearance at E3 this year.

The original Mirror's Edge was a free running game that put almost every small movement of the character in your control. For most people, it had no middle ground. You loved it or hated it. With a jump to the next gen this could be an ideal time to bring back a game that put so much control in the player's hands to show off just what the new consoles can do.
Keep the Faith.

Event Reveals

Pre-Event Speculation

Ubisoft has confirmed one unannounced new game from their AAA franchises and a new IP, by Watch_Dogs co-developer Reflections, will be announced by the end of their fiscal year which ends on March 31, 2014. The new IP has been confirmed to be revealed at E3 with no word on the other title being there. Keep a look out for their conference and post here what you hope they are.

But why is the rum gone? - Capt. Jack Sparrow
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag has not been confirmed to make an appearance, but it's a given. The continuation of one of the companies biggest franchises is going to be coming out later this year for all consoles. We keep getting glimpses of the game from new trailers, but showing real gameplay will be the selling point in their conference. The large part of the game will be based around naval combat. As a pirate, that would be given. It's split pretty evenly with people that do and don't like the naval warfare from ACIII so what approach they take could make or break their sales pitch.

Splinter Cell is a long running series by Ubisoft. Last year, they showed off Blacklist with new features like using Kinect to whistle and it catching the attention of a nearby guard. This hasn't been mentioned as a title for the next-gen consoles, and it likely won't be since the production is so far along. With this being so close to the release date Ubisoft may decide to let this one sit on the sideline during the conference.
We have ways of making you talk.

Look both ways before crossing the street.
What is likely the most anticipated game of the year would be Watch_Dogs. At last year's E3 it was revealed and stole the show. Now we have more information like release dates, some gameplay videos, and small pieces of the story. Ubisoft should be holding nothing back during their conference and show everything they have planned with the new IP. Multiplayer has been hinted at and an explanation for how that will work should be one of the major points they focus on. Watch this, or Aiden Pearce may hack your computer and force you.

Rainbow 6: Patriots was revealed at E3 in 2011. Since then very few details have come out. It did not make an appearance at E3 2012 and was recently removed from Gamestop's pre-order list. Rumors have started going around that the game has either been cancelled or will be changed to run on the next-gen consoles. Maybe E3 will have more information on the games fate, maybe not.
Taste the rainbow.

Pre-Event Speculation

Not this kind of cloud?
Sony has the clear lead in the next-gen battle of the consoles after their reveal. We will see if they can keep it going once more information has come out. We are still far from knowing everything about both consoles so keep your mind open and see what everyone has to say.

The PlayStation 4 does not have backwards compatibility, but in a partnership with Gaikai, which Sony now owns, games from the PlayStation one, PS2, and PS3 can all be streamed to the PS4 via the cloud. The service will also allow instant access to demos with no wait time. This appears to be a big feature for the PS4 and will likely be talked about in more detail during their conference.

Everyone is waiting to see what Bungie has been making for so long. They have teased, hinted and dodged questions for months since the reveal. Now, we will get real information and finally be able to see what Destiny could really be. It has already been announced that the PS4 will have exclusive DLC so a reveal at the PlayStation conference is not a surprise. Bungie is not a known developer for PlayStation so getting as much time in front of their new prospective customers as possible is sure to be their goal. You can't use the selling point of being the creators of Halo to a PS only gamer who has never played the series. Don't forget, this does come out on all platforms, PC and Wii U not announced, so be sure to check this one out no matter what you have or plan to get.
I'm watching you.

PC on PS!
In a surprise appearance at the PS4 reveal, Blizzard, announced that Diablo 3 will be coming to the PlayStation. As a non PC gamer I know nothing about this, other than the partnership for this is a big deal. Blizzard is known for their massive PC series like World of Warcraft, Star Craft, and of course, the Diablo series. Making a jump from PC only games to a console is a big surprise and PlayStation may have a few more fans from the PC because of it.

Disclaimer: I have never owned a PlayStation console and have no idea what to say about their exclusives. Instead of rambling about what I see from a trailer or read from a description, I will leave it up to the fans to decide what they hope to see. Gran Turismo 6, Driveclub, Infamous: Second Son and Killzone: Shadow Fall look like they could be great.

Event Reveals

Pre-Event Speculation

The Wii U has had a very slow start since it released last year. Part of that comes from the lack of great games to support the system since then. By the end of E3 all of that should change. Some big name games are planned to be revealed for the first time in Nintendo's E3 Direct Video. Even before then they have announced a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker for the Wii U, an HD Zelda game that will change the series, and the new Mario Kart on the Wii U. All of these are just a sample.

I'll get this out of the way due to lack of interest. The new Pokemon games, X and Y, will be coming out worldwide later this year on the 3DS. For the first time in the traditional handheld series it will be in full 3D and allow movement in a diagonal direction. With a new handheld and new features, it will also be in a new region. Look for this to make an appearance in their video.
Rainbow deer appears! Seems legit.

Always stargazing.
If I say Super Mario what do you think of? Do you think of the side scrolling games or the 3D adventures like Super Mario Sunshine on the Gamecube or the Galaxy games on Wii? This time it means a Super Mario 3D game. The most famous plumber in all of gaming will have another 3D adventure game revealed during E3. We know nothing about it, but the series has been popular for a long time so don't expect it to be anything less than the usual collecting stars and rescuing the Princess.

One of the best game series Nintendo has, in my opinion, is the Smash Bros. series. It takes most of your longtime favorites from the biggest series Nintendo has and pits them against each other for a fighting match. Guest characters from other developers have made appearances before like Solid Snake and Sonic in Brawl for the Wii. While this is just a reveal for the game a guest character may make an appearance as well. In addition to the Wii U, this will also release on the 3DS. This is the first time the series will be made for a Nintendo handheld. This has been confirmed to make an appearance during E3, and this is just the title needed to get the Wii U back on track.
Who wants to go first?

Event Reveals

The latest game in the Arkham franchise is Arkham: Origins. This game has a change in developers this time around. Instead of being made by Rocksteady, like the last two games, it is being made by WB Montreal. This studio has the full support of Rocksteady and the experience of working on Arkham City: Armored Edition for the Wii U last year. If the information released so far is any indication of how this will turn out it looks like we have nothing to worry about.
Bat beat down.

Rocksteady is not making this year's Batman game because they have been working on their next game. It has not been announced, and has been rumored to not be another Batman game. Since the plan appears to be a 2014 release an announcement of what they are working on could come from E3.

This is my car now.
Rockstar has a history of not coming to E3. Even though they have a popular game on the way (GTA V) there may not be any new info coming from E3. It's not confirmed or denied if they will be there, but past events says they likely won't.

2K Games has announced that they will not have a booth at E3. This likely means they will not make an appearance at any of the press conferences Either. Don't expect to see any 2K Sports titles or Borderlands info from E3.
Nothing to say I guess.

TL;DR

Lots of awesome stuff coming. Watch it and be surprised or catch up on the tons of highlights coming after and during the event.

I'm glad you guys like it. Once the conferences are over I will try to change the links to the archives of the full conference for anyone that misses them.

One other thing to mention. Tomorrow Square Enix/Eidos Montreal will be revealing a new game in the Deus Ex series. It will be called Deus Ex: The Fall. I'll try to get something in here about it.

Also, since this section is so big I'm going to mention any changes or updates in a post so you don't have to hunt for them.

Updates

- IGN Stream added

- Xbox.com link now goes to the stream location

- Ubisoft teaser trailer added to the gallery. Not really worth watching, but it's there.

This thread will come in handy after E3.

I wouldn't expect Rockstar Games either. They're sponsoring a sports event over the weekend and always do their own thing. I would be surprised if they show up.

Deus Ex: The Fall is a mobile game. I'm not adding it in.

Update

- Added EA teaser of DICE Surprises.

Since the teaser mentions Stockholm (Sweden) and surprises to come, this lines up perfectly with what I said about Mirror's Edge 2 being announced this year. The original is my favorite game on the 360 so I'm really looking forward to that. Of course if they announce Battlefront 3 it's going to be pure chaos from the Star Wars fans (me included). ;D

A little bit of information I forgot to mention before. The Ouya console will be at E3. It's not actually on the show floor... it's in a parking lot down the street, but technically it's at E3. Okay, joking aside they did this on purpose. Since E3 is closed to mostly media personnel the people in charge of this decided to have Ouya outside for the public. For an upcoming console with little media coverage this is probably the smartest thing they could do to let the most people see it for themselves. The article from IGN about it can be found here.

By the way, this is an open discussion thread. If you want to share what you want to see from E3 then go for it. I only provided the information to keep people informed of what we could expect and bring out the discussion before, during and after the event.

The game Lucasarts almost had done was First Assault. That was meant to be an arcade game for the 360 that would come this summer. If it sold well they planned to move forward with a Battlefront 3. Of course we know what happened from there and all Star Wars games are in limbo now.

For anyone interested, the Konami Pre E3 conference is today. If you have any interest in Metal Gear: The Phantom Pain I suggest you tune in. Gamespot has exclusive coverage and the link is in the first post.

EDIT: Changes coming tomorrow! I found more streams, and it also looks like half the conferences will not be on Spike TV.

On top of that, the new game by Respawn Entertainment (former Infinty Ward developers) has leaked thanks to Gameinformer. It will be called "Titanfall" and appears to be an Xbox and PC exclusive. The paragraph I already have about the game is in the EA section above. More to be added later.
