Introducing Need for Speed Payback
« on: June 02, 2017, 07:18:14 PM »

Today, Ghost games revealed the next installment of the Need for Speed franchise will be called Payback. Set in Fortune Valley, you play as Tyler Morgan, a former street racer that was double-crossed and forced out of the Cartel. Your mission is to take down “The House” cartel that controls everything in the area as Payback for what they did to you.

Need for Speed Payback will feature cars of five different types: Race, Drift, Off-Road, Drag and Runner. You’ll also be able to find cars left in the world that can be claimed, restored and improved. Customization is also returning with more options for improving your car and making it what you want. There is even an option to tune the car while driving. Before you ask, yes, there is offline play in this one without the need for constant internet connection.

Being set in Fortune Valley and all the options for gambling there is another feature being added. You can bet on your race to earn bonus cash. Whether this is available in the online modes isn’t clear, but it could be an easy way to build your garage at a faster rate.

Pre-orders of the game will include the exclusive Platinum Car pack which features five cars. An added bonus is each of the cars has a unique platinum blue tire smoke that only they will have. The cars included are:

Nissan 350Z
Chevrolet Camaro SS
Dodge Charger R/T
Ford F-150 Raptor
Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport.

Need for Speed Payback will be available as part of EA/Origin Access with a 10 hour free trial starting on November 2nd. Purchases of the Deluxe edition will allow early access to the game on November 7th, with the full release coming November 10th. Need for Speed Payback will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

At the EA press conference a new gameplay trailer was shown off featuring the "Highway Heist" mission originally teased in the reveal trailer. It showed a crash cam feature very similar to how the Burnout series works along with some rapid cuts from gameplay to cutscenes. You can watch the new trailer below.
