SIPWU 7.7.17
« on: July 07, 2017, 06:28:48 PM »

It’s an interesting week this time. Bungie’s annual holiday along with some celebration news for the Halo series. We’ve also got news on updates for several games and an upcoming release. Keep reading for more.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Halo 3, 343 has announced that all the 360 Halo titles not yet backwards compatible will be joining the program later this year. That means Halo CE: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 will all be playable on Xbox One. Even better is the fact that all the map pack DLC for all the Halo 360 titles will be free to everyone. No estimate on when to expect them to be added, but the DLC is free now.

To go along with the Halo 3 details 343 mentioned that a special playlist is being built to celebrate. It will feature “classic” gametypes and be built on community made versions of Halo 3 maps. Again, no word on when to expect it.

It was also announced that Halo 5 will be getting a 4K update to play better on Xbox One X later this year.

Happy Bungie Day! Usually there’s something big to present during this time, but Bungie has kept mostly silent this time. A bundle of beta codes for Destiny 2 went out, but there’s not much else. However, the weekly update from yesterday provided the launch trailer for the beta which will be coming in just a few weeks. You can watch the trailer below and click the link for what to expect in the beta.

The backwards compatibility announcement means that the original iteration of Firefight in Halo will now be playable on the Xbox One! Not that I'll have time to play it... but it's nice to see anyways.
