E3 2014 - June 9th-12th - Information Hub
« on: May 31, 2014, 02:36:04 PM »

If gaming had a holiday it would be E3. The biggest event for all gamers is this one week when the biggest  names in the industry come together to blow our minds and wet our appetite for the coming releases later in the year and beyond. You can think of it like Christmas because brand new games we never even expected are regularly announced at this event to thundering applause. It is unfortunately restricted to journalists, but we get a peek behind the scenes with the massive amount of live-streams going on.

This post is here to organize the various streams you can watch all in one place. No searching the internet for someone that’s doing it. Click a link and you’re set. If one goes down then check another. It’s going to be a busy week so keep an eye on this thread and the linked sites for some of the biggest news.

As the two main console companies, Microsoft and Sony will be holding the biggest events lasting 90 minutes. With the release of their new hardware complete, the focus should now shift to the games. Both companies have some heavy hitter franchises ready to make announcements, but it’s the secret stuff that usually steals the show. If you haven’t picked a new console yet this could be the event that helps you decide.

Ubisoft and EA won’t be taking a break either. Both Publishers have some massively popular titles in the works that are ready to take center stage. Everything from Assassin’s Creed and The Division, to Battlefield and Star Wars should be making an appearance. And that’s just the stuff we know about!

The 9th is going to be a very long day filled with news. Things kick off at Noon Eastern time and don’t stop until 10:30 that night. Grab some snacks and drinks as it all unfolds. If you want a little more information than what you see here check the second post for some speculation and rumors. Have a great week!

NOTE: All information below is based on facts, rumors with at least reasonable sources, or assumptions based on information given. Since E3 always has secret reveals not everything below is guaranteed to happen. This is purely to sum up some of the major titles that could appear or rumors that have been circulating the internet leading up to the big event.

Earlier this year, a leak came from inside the company that outlined some major plans for the rest of the year. While nothing has been confirmed as true by Microsoft, some items mentioned have happened. Hardware wise, the major points are a White Xbox One, and possibly a system without a Disc Drive at a lower price. Microsoft employees received an exclusive employee only White Xbox One at launch so this is likely to happen. There have been comments from top executives at Microsoft that they have been experimenting with a console without a Disc Drive. Additional hardware possibilities would be a Virtual Reality headset. Sony has revealed their "Project Morpheus" which functions much like the Oculus Rift. Microsoft has been working with the technology, but it may be too earlier for a reveal.

I need a weapon.
In addition to the hardware information, some game release dates and two reveals came out. The biggest news is that Halo 2 Anniversary is coming later this year. This is assumed to have the beta to Halo 5 which means it's probably an Xbox One game. A "Master Chief" Collector's edition was also mentioned which would include a Halo 3 and 4 port for the Xbox One. With the large group of people that desperately want to see this happen it would be a missed opportunity if 343I doesn't make this happen.

Another exclusive that has been rumored is a new Forza Horizon game for the Xbox One. This was first mentioned in the leak, followed by an artist posting several concept art pictures on his Linkedin profile (One of them is to the right of this paragraph). This could be work done as a hobby, but he works for a company known to have worked on Forza games in the past. The Forza series has turned into a yearly franchise so this would likely be true.
Floor it!

Lost in the desert...
In the last few weeks 343 Industries finally made the official reveal for Halo 5: Guardians. We first saw a brief trailer at last year's E3 and have since heard next to nothing about it. Now, we know it will be coming in 2015 along with the new Halo TV show on Xbox One. A new character has been shown in the reveal image, but no additional information was given. As one of Microsoft's major exclusive series, you can expect more Halo news to come from E3.

A new Call of Duty is coming. They always do. This year the title will be developed completely by Sledgehammer Games. They have done work on the multiplayer in the past, but this is their first full game to produce. It will be called "Advanced Warfare" and feature, as you may guess, advanced weaponry from the future. You can check out the reveal trailer here, or just find Travis. If it has anything to do with CoD he has the info.
Does this helmet make my head look big?

I got your back if you've got mine.
Fable Legends was revealed at last year's E3 and very little, if any, information has been released since. We know that it's a five player co-op game with four players working together to stop the fifth player that acts as the villain. Lionhead has already said that Fable Legends will have a "Huge presence" at E3 and more information is sure to be revealed.

EA may not be the best company around, but they have some massively popular series. That's not likely to change any time soon. While they don't have any hardware to show it's still going to be a conference you'll want to see. With the chance of Mass Effect 4 getting revealed and the lid finally coming off the Star Wars: Battlefront reboot, you can expect more than just sports getting thrown at you.

EA Sports will be there, that's for sure. No Sports titles have been confirmed besides NHL 15, but how many people are going to be floored when the next Madden gets revealed? They're on game 78, right? Anyway, you can expect them to bring out Madden and possibly something from their new MMA deal. They're big names that would be a mistake to hide. One thing that is more speculation than fact has to do with the Golf series. Last year, Tiger Woods announced he would no longer be on the name for the games. No game was made this year and that's not likely to last long. Naming a new star for the cover or revealing a deal between the PGA Tour and EA for years of support could be some of the things that happen. Motion sensors have been demonstrated well with Golf games and how it would work with the new Kinect could be a major point they want to showoff.
Wait! I got a phone call!

Can't catch me.
Need for Speed is another yearly franchise from EA that is very popular. Although, new studio Ghost Games have decided to buck the trend and skip this year. Putting more time into the next game will allow them to be more innovative with the series and give the fans a better experience. Since the studio plans to take fan feedback on what they will do with the game a reveal would need to happen, right? Having the new NFS title at E3 isn't confirmed, but it's a good place to do a reveal. All we really know for sure is if the game gets revealed, autolog will be pushed once again and an expensive car will be smashed to pieces in a trailer. I called it.

In a recent earnings report EA executives let something slip. With a gap between major Battlefield games they needed something to fill the void. The executives mentioned an unannounced title coming later this year that would be able to tide people over until the next game comes. After more recent leaks, it appears that Visceral will be making a Police themed Battlefield game coming this year. It's not clear if this was the game mentioned, but it very well could be. An urban Police combat game would likely be on a smaller scale and having Visceral do it would allow DICE more time working on a new military game. More information for this game will be at E3. If it's not the surprise title, you can expect something else even bigger.
Needs more explosions.

Ben knows the truth.
Star Wars is coming back! DICE made a lot of fans happy last year by showing the new Battlefront game is in development. Everyone in that conference will be wanting to see more and they will show it. That hasn't been confirmed, but the release is planned for mid-2015 and E3 is the biggest stage they're going to get between now and then. If you've never played the original games, think Battlefield with the Star Wars universe. They were the best choice of studio simply because of that. Now, another Star Wars game has been said to be in development at Visceral Games, the makers of Dead Space. Information on this project is very scarce. They recently acquired Amy Henning from Naughty Dog and appointed her to be the creative director of the series. As the creative mind for the majority of Naughty Dog's massive PlayStation hit series, Uncharted, this means Visceral's project is in very capable hands. Hopefully, we can get some real game information from the studio at E3.

Dragon Age Inquisition will be the 3rd installment in the Dragon Age franchise. Bioware promises that the upcoming game will have larger environments and will keep key elements of past games like the ability to choose between different races as your character (Players can play as a Human, Dwarf, and Elf).
There is a rumored change in combat however, supposedly there will be less finger striking and more strategic thinking. Players and party members will have to work great together and think more tactical.
I think it has dragons.

There's nothing you can really expect to come from Ubisoft. Just look back a few years at their host for the conference, Mr Caffeine. Luckily, they cut him and we're likely to get Aisha Tyler again. Why an executive can't just walk out and introduce the next studio is beyond me. With Watch_Dogs being released a few weeks before E3 that's one major title that we know they won't have. Unless they plan to show a sequel, which is possible if they plan to continue the series yearly. To really sum up what to expect from Ubisoft this year, expect the unexpected. We'll get info on games announced last year, but they are the most likely to throw something new and completely unexpected into the mix.

Why are you riding a panda?
Let's get this out of the way. Just Dance is a yearly franchise they have which sells very well. A new one is likely to come with multiple dancers on the stage showing it off. It will likely have a specific theme and they may bring in a celebrity. If this doesn't interest you, take the opportunity for an intermission. It could be painful to watch and a quick opportunity for some snack gathering would be good during the long day of E3 conferences. We're done here, moving on.

The Assassin's Creed Series is taking a new approach this year by having two different console games coming out. A next-gen exclusive game is called Assassin's Creed: Unity and is set in France during the 1700s. Nothing else is known about the title, but it is likely to appear in the Microsoft, Sony and Ubisioft conference. The second game is currently under the codename "Comet." This is believed to be in reference to Halley's Comet which was first named and recorded in 1705. This is around the same time period as Unity as well as the previous game, Black Flag. Details on where or when this game takes place have not been revealed, but it may be a sequel to Black Flag to fill in the story gap between Black Flag and AC3.
Off with his head!

Uh, taxi?
The title that took everyone by surprise last year at Ubisoft's E3 briefing was The Division. Since the reveal there have been demonstrations for the Snowdrop engine and multiple views of how amazing the game looks. Gameplay appeared to be solid with drop-in drop-out multiplayer in an RPG type world. Since then everything has gone dark. It was recently announced that the game has been pushed back to a 2015 release, which makes this year's E3 the perfect time to showoff something to hold everyone's interest through the rest of the year.

Following a leak a few weeks ago Ubisoft officially revealed Far Cry 4. A few details have come out such as the setting in Kryat somewhere in the Himalayan Mountains. It will be an open-world game with you thrown in the middle of a civil war. Since this was a leak, you can expect more information coming from E3. The game is currently scheduled for a November release.
When did Saints Row merge with Far Cry?

Dune Buggy Porsche? Yes please!
Ubisoft took a different approach to arcade racing games with their new game The Crew. It's set in an open world and allows for seamless transition from single player to co-op racing. While it appears to be more of a demolition derby style arcade racer, the concept has the interest of a lot of people. It was meant to be released at the beginning of this year but got pushed back to later in the year. New information on the game, such as more gameplay, and a solid release date would be the most likely thing to see from The Crew.

With Sony heading into their seventh straight year of financial losses they have started to reveal their plans to turn the sinking ship around. The games department has been a solid profit since the release of the PS4 and will be one of their major incomes to break even. This means you should see a new focus on content for the PS4 in an effort to win customers. One thing you should expect to see from them is their new virtual reality headset "Project Morpheus." No timeline for a release has been set, but games coming out later this year have reported they will support it. With the company losing so much money a new gadget may be just the thing they need to add more profits.

Our old friends at Bungie have been up to their usual secretive work and E3 is the perfect place to let it out. Destiny is their new IP which they hope will have the same magic as the Halo series has. With a persistent online world that constantly changes, this could be another title from them that changes the way some console games work. Only time will tell, but it's not that far away. With the beta coming in July E3 could be the platform to showoff exactly what we will get to do and when we can enter the world. As September 9th gets closer expect some of the mysteries of the galaxy to slowly trickle out and entice people to explore. Get ready to Become Legend... or just scream "Space Magic!" every ten minutes. Either one works.
Need we say more?

Nathan Drake is back.
One of the biggest franchises to come out of the PS3 was no doubt Uncharted. During the release event for the PS4, Naughty Dogs showed off a brief trailer for Uncharted 4. While nothing story or gameplay wise was shown, it does suggest Nathan Drake had a darker side than players might have seen before. With one of the biggest franchises making the jump to the next-gen system the graphics are bound to be a drastic improvement. Sony will be very excited to show it off so look forward to seeing more footage of the game.

Driveclub was suppose to be one of PS4's biggest exclusives last year and was originally set to launch with the console. However, there were some delays and now the game is set to launch this October. It's likely that we'll see Sony shine a big light on the game during their conference.
Vrooom

Van Helsing called. He wants his clothes back.
Not many details about the much anticipated "The Order 1886". Although it is confirmed a spot in the E3 spot light. With the use of vertex blending, Sony promises that The Order 1886 will have some of the most stunning graphics out there.

As usual for Nintendo, they have done something weird and unexpected. They previously announced that they would have a normal conference at this year's E3. That's no longer the case. Instead, they are going with the same format as last year. A special Nintendo Direct will be shown online as well as streaming from the show floor. One thing they have assured will not be shown is new hardware. They are in the early stages of planning new hardware, but plan to support Wii U for at least a little while longer.

Nintendo has also announced a Super Smash Bros. Invitational Tournament that will be held in the Nokia Theater during E3. If you can't make it there, they will also be holding a Smash-Fest where you can try the new Smash Bros. at your local Best Buy (Refer to the first post for more info). You can view Nintendo's E3 planning video below in the Gallery section.

The Legend Of Zelda has been one of Nintendo's leading franchises for most of their systems. With the promise of a new HD Legend of Zelda many fans have been waiting impatiently for it. The closest thing they have released to an HD game was Twilight Princess on the Gamecube and Wii. Now that a game is coming on the Wii U with proper HD graphics the result could be incredible. As usual for Nintendo, details for the game have been very scarce. A few screenshots here and there have been shown but no details have been given. Expect a full reveal during E3 and prepare for a trip back to Hyrule.
Need bug spray ASAP.

Where's Delta Emerald?
For the last few years Pokemon games have been moving forward with new regions and monsters to collect. This year, Nintendo has decided to remake the Hoenn region by doing Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby. Much like past remakes, this will likely have most of the original game with several additions based on new game mechanics and items. Which Pokemon do you want to see mega evolve? Latios and Latias were found in the X and Y game code to have a mega evolution so that may get an official reveal during E3.

In my opinion, one of the greatest franchises in Nintendo's long list of classics is Super Smash Bros. This could be just what Nintendo needs to get the Wii U up to speed and moving forward. There have been 29 characters revealed so far and a couple more surprises could be in store for an E3 presentation. Keep a look out for what Nintendo does because there could be a new challenger approaching.
Reggie's Ready to Rumble!

Where did I park my car again?
The Bat is back for one last round. Rocksteady announced earlier this year their new game would be called Arkham Knight and it would be the end of the series, at least what they will be involved making. This next-gen only game will be coming later this year and feature a new villain known as the "Arkham Knight" as well as the Batmobile being drivable for the first time. We don't know for sure where this is going to show up during E3, but it's bound to make an appearance at Sony or Microsoft's show.

TL;DR

Tons of games coming. Most of it we don't know for sure. E3 is going to be exciting, as usual.

All information for this topic comes from: IGN, Gamespot, XBA, Gameinformer, E3 main site and the official websites of each company. Images gathered from Google image search.

Nice write up, Poke. I'm giving finals this week, get done on the day that Orange is the New Black s2 is released (as well as Luther s2) on Netflix, and was wondering what to do before departing on my cruise. This...will fill up the plate.

Excellent write up Poke. It seems as though this may be the year for good games. I'm extremely excited for Halo on the XB1, I just hope they run it at full specs. Star Wars and Need for Speed look interesting. Can't wait to see what else is coming.

I'm glad you like it guys. All I ask is that you wait to post videos in here until we get to a second page. Like last year, I'm probably going to fill the Gallery section with videos and the more we have the more lag this thread gets. What you posted is fine, just wait a little longer to add more. Thanks.

By the way, one of my speculation sections has been confirmed. Forza Horizon 2 was announced today and will be set in Southern Europe. The Xbox One version will be based on the Forza 5 engine and the 360 version will be set in the original Horizon engine. As expected, more information will be coming at E3.

EDIT: Twitch has posted their schedule for the week of E3 here. I'll be adding this into the main post later on. According to that Bethesda has an unannounced title being shown at 2:30 PM PT. Let the Fallout 4 speculation begin.

Keeping you updated on the changes I've made:
  • Twitch section added to first post. Until today I had forgotten the contract making them the official online streaming of E3.
  • Ubisoft section now has the YouTube channel linked (it should be the first video you see near the start time). Their official Twitch channel has also been added. A teaser for the Division was posted earlier this week (nothing worthwhile to see) that said those two locations were their official streams.
  • Spike TV will NOT be covering the Ubisoft and Sony conferences. I don't know why.
  • I would also like to point out you should be able to see all of the streams from IGN and Gamespot on their apps on the 360, as well as the Xbox One if it's available there. The Twitch app is probably your best bet though.
  • And the last thing to add is that this thread will not be updated as fast as I did last year. I will be missing half of the conferences and I'm not going to come in here until I've had the chance to catch up. Once I do come back, I'll try to gather as many of the trailers as possible and add them to the gallery. Once the full conferences hit YouTube I will add them to the first post as well.

That's everything. If any other major changes come up I'll post again. E3 starts in less than 40 hours. Have a good weekend! :)

I thought more like Halo based on the drop pods and Pelican type craft they were showing.

It will be C.O.-ODST
