Looking For Group - Crota's End
« on: December 08, 2014, 04:50:05 AM »

Since the Dark Below expansion is coming out this week, I figured it was time to start a new raid discussion and team set up thread for Crota's End.  This thread will contain spoilers to the Crota's End raid, so beware!

This raid recommends Level 30 characters to play the Normal version of the raid.  Your character should be near or at Level 30 or higher to participate.  However, the new DLC gear will have more light levels and will allow your character to get to Level 30 or higher once upgraded.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A TEAM, PLEASE POST YOUR CONSOLE, LEVEL, AND CLASS. This will make it easier for people to find the appropriate team members.

Any characters less than Level 30 should probably not participate.
This neither accurate nor is it fair. That is the recommended level suggested by Bungie. You'll only need the Fireteam leader to be Level 30 to participate.

Doing the regular raid with lower level characters was fairly annoying even with maxed weapons, I'd assume doing the new one (especially learning it) would be the exact same.

It really depends on the composition of the team. We carried Seth through VoG once when he was a 24. It helps to be at the same or higher level than the enemies but it's not necessary.

I changed the wording a slight bit to say your character should be near Level 30 to participate.  I wasn't trying to insult you or anyone by saying Level 30 was the bare minimum.  I just know that reading from other sources that most people recommend being at the required level or higher if you want a good experience.

Not insulted whatsoever. I have had 3 characters at LVL 30 for weeks and know the pain of running the raid with the de-buff you receive from helping lower LVL players through. Like Arby said its who you are running with and if you are willing to help someone or not. I just think saying that players should stay away because you are under leveled isn't necessary. Good news for people who haven't hit 30 yet, you can purchase higher light level armor from vendors on the tower. With a repurchased/upgraded exotic piece of armor and 3 pieces of the new improved crucible/vanguard armor you can hit light LVL 31 and you don't even need the DLC.

Crota has met his end, in 5 hrs and 58 mins. Congrats Team InvigorateINV! Wow, with 4 LVL29's too!

People on reddit are saying that the team entered the raid as 30s and dropped to 29 when they equipped their new raid gear. Still - very impressive.

Here's the location of the first chest.

I'm very happy with this placement. Even though I'm level 29 I can still start the Raid for some reason. Even if I don't run it with people this should mean I can grab something from it each week since it's so early on.

EDIT: And I can confirm this can be done solo. Got myself 2 Radiant Shards. B.net has some people saying they got exotic items or raid gear from this chest so this is a great place to grab things if you can't get a team.

I know where both chests are. By the way, at the end, the enemies are level 32. That's a good one hit to any 30, let alone a 29. I don't know if I should feel lucky or jipped now since I got two dragon's breaths...

This is the first guide I have seen to getting through the first encounter, which is dealing with the lamps and forming the bridge.  Looks tough!  I'm going to hate thralls..

I'm going to wait a little bit and get to Level 30 or 31 before attempting to do the raid.

The lamp section is easy. Have one person stay behind for revives, then send the other five into the frey. One person has to make it. If you can get a single body on the point, it will build the bridge for you. Once the bridge is built, the medic comes from behind and gets revives. You then make a mad dash for the exit, completely disregarding the enemies. On the other side just get those blocks behind you so the shreks can't shoot you. One person makes it there, and you're in.
Edit: I remember now that they are ogres. I couldn't think of the name.
If you guys need any help with anything, just tell me what part. I know some pretty good strats for the entire raid. (I will be 31.5 as soon as I max my gear. Gunning for 32 by the time Xur leaves.)
