February Update: 2.5.0.2
« on: February 10, 2017, 07:49:43 PM »

Bungie had a livestream that gave viewers weapon balancing info about the new update coming out, 2.5.0.2. I've summed up the changes that they've stated (Mostly weapon balancing), so here they are.

HAND CANNONS

- Significantly increased initial first shot accuracy.
- Reduced base range by 5 meters: Affects aim assistance and damage drop off
  - Currently, at max range, your hand cannon damage gets reduced by 50% your max damage. It will now do 33% of the base damage past the intended range.
-No changes were made for bloom on spamming shots.
- High Caliber Rounds now affects Hand Cannons.

AUTO RIFLES

- Increased base damage of low rate of fire auto rifles (Suros Regime, Shadow Price)
- Increased critical multiplier from 1.25 to 1.3
- Auto Rifles in-air accuracy increased.

SCOUT RIFLES

- Scout Rifles in-air accuracy increased.
- High Caliber Rounds now affect Scout Rifles.

PULSE RIFLES

- Reduced rate of fire for low impact pulse rifles (The Clever Dragon, Grasp of Malok) by 7.7% or 1 frame.
- High Caliber Rounds altered to inflict less flinch.
- Pulse Rifles across the board have had their flinch reduced.
- Grasp of Malok and The Clever Dragon have had their magazine size reduced by ~6.
- Increased rate of fire for high impact Pulse Rifles by 5.3%. (The Messenger, Spare Change)
- Pulse Rifles have had their in air accuracy increased.

SHOTGUNS

- Significantly decreased magnetism.
- Removed all aim assistance when hip firing.
- Decreased mid-air accuracy.
- Removed all precision damage from shotguns. (The Chaperone's demise?)
- 20% buff to Shotgun damage in PvE to make up for lack of critical damage.
- Chaperone still does precision damage. (There's your answer)
- Aim-down-sights (ADS) time takes 25% longer for shotguns that have the Rangefinder perk.
- Removed agility decrease when wielding a shotgun.

SNIPER RIFLES AND FUSION RIFLES

They didn't say anything, cri

SIDEARMS

No changes to this weapon type, which is important to consider when looking at the changes to the Crucible.

CRUCIBLE

- Players start matches with Special Ammo, but you now lose all Special Ammo upon death.
- Special Ammo crates spawn every 60 seconds (previously 90).
- Reduced radius for special ammo drops for teammates when you pick up ammo from 100m to 75m.
- Players only start with special on the 1st round of Elimination. (Trials of Osiris included.)
- Invective and Icebreaker not affected.
- Sidearms still spawn with ammo upon death. (See? No changes.)

CLASS CHANGES

HUNTER

- Hungering Blade for Bladedancer now immediately grants health instead of regenerating health. Shields no longer regenerate on kill.
- Throwing knife now does Solar damage.
- Blink will be adjusted in the next update. (Seemingly back to the original recharge rate for Blink, in Year 1)

TITAN

- Juggernaut deactivates faster in mid-air.
- Juggernaut can not be activated in mid-air.

WARLOCK

- Reduced Stormcaller melee range.
- Landfall now reduces total time in Stormtrance. (Kinda like Self-Rez for Sunsinger)

EXOTICS

- Universal Remote: Precision damage only active when aiming down sights.
- Truth: Changes coming but not yet revealed.
- Shinobu's Vow: Changes coming but not yet revealed.
- Young Wolf's Howl: Costs less ammunition to use the heavy attack.

EXTRAS

Fixed kneepads on certain gear.

Well, that's that.

Being a Clever Dragon whore, this could put a kink in my abilities (or lack thereof....hence relying on the OP Dragon #notashamed).

Now....high impact pulse rifles get a bump in rate of fire. Would Hopscoth fall into that category? I've got a couple with decent rolls, but I never could get a good feel for it. I just got used to the rate of Grasp and Clever. If so, I could see myself breaking out the Pilgrim and giving it a whirl. When I did use it, I was able to 3 tap people so I know it's a solid gun. And I know Stig is a big fan of it as well.

And thank 9lb. 8oz. sweet baby Jesus they're doing something about the -blam!-ing shotguns!

That should apply to Hopscotch pilgrim. I've got at least one on each character so I'm excited to see that change.

Not happy with the shotgun and special ammo changes. I can't snipe in the Crucible and fusion rifles just don't click for me so shotguns have always been my best option.

I find the key to fusions is getting the jump on someone. If someone comes around a corner with a matador, yeah, you're screwed. But if you've got a little distance and the jump on them, they're toast pretty much every time. Especially when you've got something with a high charge rate. I've been amazed at the speed and distance I've gotten kills with a Plan C or Saladan's Vigil. To hear that voop and watch them disintegrate from 9 or 10 meters is so nice. Of course I'll turn around and someone will Party Crasher me from the same distance in a WTF moment.

Looks like the update is out. Full patch notes are listed here. Note that the Hunter Hungering Blade tweak is accidentally being applied to pretty much every health regeneration perk in the game.

Because it was continuously spammed in Trials, probably. With the type of tracking Truth has, it makes sense to cut down the mag size.

Not happy with the shotgun and special ammo changes. I can't snipe in the Crucible and fusion rifles just don't click for me so shotguns have always been my best option.

Just have to get friendly with the Invective, or try sidearms.

I'm not happy about the Stormcaller Melee nerf. Until they limit the range of throwing knives and smoke bombs I don't see how anyone can complain that Stormcaller melees are "overpowered." And I'm wondering if the "Landfall" change applies to using Impossible Machines or just the subclass perk tree.

And I'm still waiting for them to do a blanket Primary range nerf on everything but Scout Rifles. Getting really sick of losing long-range engagements to Doctrine of Passing and other bullet-hose ARs, or Hand Cannons with lower range stats than some shotguns (looking at YOU, Last Word).

Although probably what Destiny needs most is for Objective gametypes to actually be objective gametypes. I've lost far too many Rift matches against teams that never even touched the spark, control matches to teams that only ever held one territory (worse yet when my team has held all three for any length of time). And then there was Salvage (I'm not sure if it's disappeared fro rotation or if I've just been subconsciously  blocking its existence because I hate that gametype). Zone Control seems to be the only Objective gametype that actually feels like an objective gametype.

If y'all haven't heard, there's apparently an infinite super glitch that uses the Sparrow. Some of you may have heard when people used Golden Gun on the Sparrow, but this is different. This glitch can be used with Bladedancer and Sunbreaker, possibly Stormtrance. You have to activate your super while you hold X to go on the Sparrow, and if you do it right you should see the super icon in the bottom right corner next to the Sparrow icon. Before you get off the Sparrow you must swap to another primary and swap back, then you can get off. Ta da, infinite super glitch. If you want to watch someone do it, Rifle Gaming has a video up on it.

Also, this update is slightly broken if you have the archetype of pulse rifle that got buffed. I have a Parthian Shot with Outlaw and a stability perk, and it is DIRTY. The Hawkmoon is a solid hand cannon now, and now I'm not running into shotguns 24/7. Still need a bit of time before it settles down and people find the meta.

I totally agree on that. Played a few Control matches this morning. At least 2 losses came in games that we held 2 points for 80% of the game. And I've had more of those Rift matches than I care to recall.
