Dragon Ball Fighter Z Revealed at E3
« on: June 11, 2017, 09:00:33 PM »

Bandai Namco officially announced Dragon Ball FighterZ for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC during the Microsoft E3 2017 press conference. It will launch worldwide in early 2018. Dragon Ball FighterZ is a collaboration combining classic 2D fighting game mechanics with the Dragon Ball universe developed by Arc System Works. The game is like Marvel vs Capcom 2, I’d say that’s a good example of what this game is.  A closed beta will be held on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One before the end of summer.

Here’s an overview of the game, via Bandai Namco:

About
After the success of the Xenoverse series, it’s time to introduce a new classic 2D Dragon Ball fighting game for this generation’s consoles. Dragon Ball FighterZ is born from what make the Dragon Ball series so loved and famous: endless spectacular fights with its all-powerful fighters.

Partnering with Arc System Works, Dragon Ball Fighter Z maximizes high-end anime graphics and brings easy to learn but difficult to master fighting gameplay to audiences worldwide.

Key Features

3-versus-3 Tag/Support – Allows players to train and master more than one fighter / style, which brings deeper gameplay.

High-End Anime Graphics – Using the power of Unreal Engine 4 and the talented team at Arc System Works, Dragon Ball Fighter Z is a visual tour-de-force.

Spectacular Fights – Experience aerial combos, destructible stages, famous scenes from the Dragon Ball anime reproduced in 60 frames per second and 1080p resolution. (Higher resolution will be supported on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X.)

Announced Characters
• Goku
• Vegeta
• Gohan
• Cell
• Frieza
• Majin Buu
• and More!

Update
Last month, we found out that fan-favorite Trunks will be a playable character in Arc System Works' upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ. Today, at Evo 2017, players got a glimpse at Trunks in action in a reveal trailer. A closed beta was also announced, which begins on July 26 and will include Trunks in the roster. The beta will be available to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players.

For those of you who don't know this makes him the 7th playable character. Hopefully we see more in the future.

New Dragon Ball FighterZ Trailer Shows Off Story Mode

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ, this time focusing on the game's original story mode.

The new trailer focuses on an army of Gokus and the newly-revealed Android 21 seemingly controlling them. From there, the trailer has quick cuts of the various characters powering up and getting ready for battle, then even more quick cuts of everyone looking very, very defeated.

DRAGON BALL FIGHTERZ GETS A RELEASE DATE

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released for Xbox One, PS4 and PC on January 26, 2018.

Bandai Namco also announced two editions of the game with bonus content. The FighterZ Edition will include a 'FighterZ Pass' adding 8 extra characters to the roster, along with cosmetic items to go with them.

The Ultimate Edition adds the FighterZ Pass, as well as a commentator voice pack, and the Anime Music pack, which adds 11 songs from the Dragon Ball anime to the soundtrack.

It's not clear from Bandai Namco's press release whether the 8 bonus characters from the FighterZ Pass will be available at launch, or as a season pass of content

Digitally pre-ordering either of the two special editions will allow players to unlock SSGSS Goku and SSGSS Vegeta early, and all pre-orders for Xbox One and PS4 will offer early access to an open beta in January.
