Halo Wars 2 Beta and More
« on: June 13, 2016, 08:46:06 PM »

Starting today, everyone is able to download the newly announced Halo Wars 2 Multiplayer beta. This will feature two modes, Domination and Deathmatch, which will be available during the week long event. Domination will run from now until June 16, where it will switch over to Deathmatch on the 17th through the 20th when it ends. Players can download now only on Xbox One right here or through the console.

Of course that’s not all the news. Halo Wars 2 now has a release date of February 21, 2017 even though it is on track to be complete this year. There are also two version of the game available for pre-order right now, which will be available on both Xbox One and Windows 10. You can get the Standard Edition for $60, and the Ultimate Edition for $80. The Ultimate Edition will include both the season pass, and the so far unmentioned Definitive Edition of the original Halo Wars. That’s all the information available now, so check out the new trailer.

Looks pretty cool - will definitely try this out this week!

Good to see that the Spirit of Fire will be making a return in this game so we'll find out what happens to the ship and the crew.

That trailer did look amazing.

As long as this doesn't have an achievement for General rank I'm looking forward to it.

Beta Feedback Results

Creative Assembly has released news about changes that will be coming to the game as the result of the Open Beta in June. The main complaint that everyone had was the connection issues, which was the first thing they've already fixed. The rest of the things they mentioned are still in the process of being done.

Controls will be adjusted for faster use of the commands, as well as the hope to finish multiple control scheme options before release.

Leader Powers are also getting a change to provide clarity for what they do, and the value of their upgrades.

Bases will also be getting a slight design change so the damage dealt can be seen clearly for either side. There will also be new icons showing if your base is actively doing a command, such as upgrading or making troops.

The Resources and Power economy of the game is getting drastically changed. The amount of resources needed in the early stages will be reduced so fewer bases will be filled with economy pads. It will still be crucial in the later stages to have a thriving economy, but this should let the fighting and army building begin sooner.

While the population cap was a bit higher than the first Halo Wars, players still wanted to see more units they could control. Creative Assembly has admitted that this part was a test and they purposefully made the beta with a lower population cap than the full game will have. However, with the request for a higher ceiling they will be looking into adding even more for the final game.

And the final announcement is another open beta that will be coming in Early 2017, this time to Xbox One and Windows 10. Considering the game is scheduled to release in February, it's a safe bet to say January will have the beta.

A new ViDoc has been released that discusses the multiplayer so far. Also revealed is a new mode called Blitz, which turns the RTS into a battle of card decks. No building is involved in the mode, you simply use a card and the troops or powers are activated.
