SIPWU 6.17.16 - E3 Edition: Bethesda and Nintendo
« on: June 18, 2016, 09:12:49 PM »

Our final update has all the latest on Bethesda and a lite sample of Nintendo.

A new Quake game was announced and the title for it is “Quake Champions”. The game will be a new entry in id Software’s groundbreaking multiplayer shooter and it is in the works. Not enough information was given on the game so you’ll have to wait until QuakeCon and that will be on August 4-7 2016. Here’s a video of the game.

Everyone wants a new Elder Scrolls game. Bethesda’s answer to that is Elder Scrolls: Legends, a card game based on the series. You can hear the collective sigh from far away. If this does interest you then you’ll be happy to see the story introduction cinematic below. If you’re not, then we did get some news on Elder Scrolls 6 after the conference. Bethesda says they have “Two major projects” before a new numbered title in the Elder Scrolls series will appear. We don’t know if those are some of the games already revealed or not.

Bethesda announced three More DLC’s for Fallout 4, and 2 of them are “Contraptions” and Vault -Tec” Workshop focus more on customizing your settlements with way better things, which I think is great if like to build stuff. The last one is “Nuka World” where we’ll be exploring a new region. As far as I can tell the story is not clear, but we do visit a cool theme park and we’ll be getting a new Quest. Check it out in our post.

By now a majority of you already know about The Elders Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. If you really enjoyed it on the old generation consoles like Xbox 360 and PS3 and you enjoyed the game well now is the perfect time to get the game again, but this time it’ll be for Current Gen consoles. For more information on Skyrim Check it out right here.

The original Prey was released in 2006, it’s been 11 years and we finally get some news on the game but it’s not clear if it’s a sequel or a reboot. The people that made Dishonored will be the Developers of this game and they are “Arkane Studios”. For now we know the name of the character we’ll be using and his name is Morgan Yu. The year is 2032, and Yu seems to be some sort of subject of an experiment going on in a space station and the bad news is that aliens seem to be overrunning the station. Here’s a video you can watch:

Bethesda announced the first piece of premium DLC for Doom: Unto the Evil and should be arriving next month. Things that are coming to the DOOM: Unto the Evil are New Maps , Weapons, Character and more. For more information check it out right here.

At Bethesda’s E3 conference it was announced that Elder Scrolls Online would be getting Three new pieces of DLC. Game director Matt Frior also confirmed that the “Argonian Dungeon Pack and character customizing barber shop would arrive in August” and the addition of player housing will be added sometime in the First Quarter of next year. Developer Zenimax also made an announcement on a console release for the Dark Brotherhood DLC.Frior says that Zenimax is aiming to release multiple, smaller DLC packs to cater to players who return to the game intermittently, creating something akin to ‘episodes’ for the game:

“It’s interesting to see what happens when you take away the subscription model. You don’t see a hardcore playstyle – like playing for six months and then quitting – we don’t see that. We have a lot of players who will play for two or three weeks because they want to get through a zone and then stop. Then they come back two months later for another month, because there’s no pressure to play all of it at once.

Bethesda also announced that Doom and Fallout 4 will be In VR, They did mention that Fallout 4 will be released on 2017 for the HTC VIVE.

Dishonored 2 closed the show with some lengthy gameplay. The story seems to focus on the empress, Emily Caldwell as she tries to keep the thrown after her mother’s death. Corvo is also returning as a playable character who is in charge of keeping her safe. Also announced during the presentation was a collectors Edition. For more details on the game and the collectors edition read here.

To see the full conference watch the video below. They had a lengthy pre-show so skip to the 1 hour 12 minute mark for the start if it doesn’t start there.

Nintendo did not have a press conference or even a Nintendo Direct this year. Instead, they streamed hours of time from the show floor of E3 in what they call Treehouse. We didn’t get to see much of these, but they said beforehand it would heavily focus on the new Legend of Zelda title. And there was no appearance of the Nintendo NX so there’s nothing to report on that.

The long teased Legend of Zelda game finally has an official title. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a new story for the young hero with several new abilities and skills. This was the main focus for Nintendo so you can find a lot of gameplay and developer commentary available on YouTube. For a short summary of some of the new information you can click the link.

While not that popular around here, there were new details of Pokemon Sun and Moon revealed. The battle mechanics have changed slightly so you can better see what each move does during battle as well as a reminder of what attacks work best. During battle both trainers will also be in the frame now. Walking has changed so there’s no more grid movement and the lighting will show the time of day. Trainer battles will also have a darkening around the screen when you’re about to walk into the path of another trainer. The biggest reveal however was the introduction of Battle Royale. This new mode is a four player multiplayer mode where each player can attack anyone else. You can see some of these in the below video along with a few new Pokemon reveals.
