Games with Gold for November 2018
« on: October 30, 2018, 04:25:35 PM »

The next set of free games have been announced for those not preoccupied with some of the new releases of the month. As always the Xbox One games are yours to keep as long as you have an active Gold membership, while the 360 games are yours even if you drop to Silver status. Both 360 titles are available on Xbox One via the backwards compatibility program.

Starting off the month is Battlefield 1. The most recent title in the popular shooter series puts you in the middle of World War 1 through four different war story campaigns and large scale multiplayer combat. The second half of the month will feature Race the Sun. This is a fast paced platformer where you must avoid obstacles as you speed through a long and difficult course.

Experience the dawn of all-out war only in Battlefield™ 1. Fight your way through epic battles ranging from tight urban combat in a besieged French city to the heavily defended mountain forts in the Italian Alps or frantic combats in the deserts of Arabia. Discover a world at war through an adventure-filled campaign, or join in epic multiplayer battles with up to 64 players, and adapt your tactics to the earth-shattering destruction and dynamic weather. Fight as infantry, lead horse charges or take control of amazing vehicles on land, air and sea, from tanks and biplanes to the gigantic Behemoths – some of the largest vehicles in Battlefield history.

You are a solar-powered craft. The sun is your death timer. Hurtle towards the sunset at breakneck speed in a futile race against time. Delay the inevitable by catching speed boosts which reverse the setting sun - if only for a moment. Race The Sun is inspired by arcade games of the past with a focus on high scores, short game sessions, and pure fun mingled with nerve-wracking tension. The rules are simple: don't crash, stay in the light, and don't slow down!

360 players will start the month with the original Assassin's Creed. Join Altair on his quest to find the Apple of Eden and defeat the Templar threat to his land. Closing out the month will be Dante's Inferno. A hack and slash title that may seem similar to Dark Souls, which hadn't yet released at the time.

1191 AD. The Third Crusade is tearing the Holy Land apart. You are Altair, a Master Assassin sent to kill corrupted leaders profiting from the war. As you carry out your missions, you find yourself tangled up in a conflict that threatens not only the Holy Land, but the entire world. Master the skills, tactics, and weapons of history’s deadliest and most secretive clan of warriors. Plan your attacks, strike without mercy, and fight your way to escape. Experience a living, breathing world in which all your actions have consequences. Crowds react to your moves, and will either help or hinder you on your quests. Do whatever it takes to achieve your objectives.

An abducted soul. A lifetime of sins. A journey to the depths of despair. Based on the immensely influential classic poem, Dante’s Inferno takes you on an epic quest of vengeance and redemption through the Nine Circles of Hell. You are Dante, a veteran of the Crusades who must chase his beloved Beatrice and try to free her soul from Lucifer’s grasp. As your pursuit takes you deeper into the pits of Hell, you must battle ever more fierce and hideous monsters—while also facing your own sins, a dark family past, and your unforgivable war crimes. Go to Hell.

NOTE: The Battlefield 1 Premium Pass is currently free. Grab it before the sale ends tomorrow to save yourself some money.

Also, if you plan on going for the achievements in BF1 make sure you go for the Operation mode achievements early on while the population boost is high. That mode is a ghost town the majority of the time.

One last thing. The Assassin's Creed title has an absurd amount of collectibles, no treasure map to buy, and there's a glitch that can randomly remove one of the flags or Templars you need to find. There's no way of knowing if you have the glitch until it happens.

You need to check the "Deals with Gold" section of the dashboard or the Deals tab of the store for even more sales every week (They start on Tuesday). They've given away Premium for free twice in the last few months and each of the packs individually as well. It's part of their Road to Battlefield V promotion tied to Battlefest. I'm kicking myself for paying $25 on Premium when I knew this would be coming eventually.
