SIPWU 11.20.15

This week we have a whole lot of everything. All the great things you would want like: a free game, double XP, an open beta, big discounts and of course explosions! Then there’s always the negative of game delays and weapon balancing. Chances are you’ll find something you’re interested in down below. Let’s get started.

Gaming News and Info

Destiny The latest Bungie weekly update gave a brief preview of the December update which will be another attempt at balancing weapons. In addition to those changes, a nerf for Sunbreakers was teased repeatedly simply because everyone knows they’re going to do something about it. If you’re interested in getting the details of how the new balancing is going to work then the main points for each weapon type and Exotic can be found below.

Auto Rifles

Small increases to base damage.
Low RoF (Suros Regime, An Answering Chord): 3% base damage increase
Med RoF (Zhalo Supercell, Paleocontact JPK-43): 7% base damage increase
High RoF (Arminius-D, Necrochasm): 4% base damage increase

Pulse Rifles

Reduce base damage.

Low RoF (The Messenger, Spare Change): 9% base damage reduction
Med RoF (Hawksaw, No Time To Explain, Red Death): 8% base damage reduction
High RoF (Bad Juju): 8% base damage reduction
Highest RoF (Grasp of Marok): 2% base damage reduction

Reduce damage falloff to start between Auto Rifle and Hand Cannon ranges.

A low range Pulse Rifle will have shorter damage falloff than an average Hand Cannon.
A high range Pulse Rifle will have farther damage falloff than an average Hand Cannon.

Increase base damage against AI combatants to 1.3x (was 1.25x).

Hand Cannons

Increase ADS Accuracy for more reliable shooting at close to medium range

FYI: Golden Gun is not, and never will be affected by Hand Cannon weapon changes. 🙂

Reduce starting damage falloff to match melee lunge ranges.
Low range stat falloff starts at standard melee lunge.
High range stat falloff starts at Blink Strike lunge.

Final damage falloff distance extends 0.5 meters longer for a smoother drop.
Slower ready/stow times for all shotguns.
Additional recoil across the entire Stability stat range.
Slower reload speed across the entire Reload stat range.
Slower time to Aim Down Sights for all shotguns.
Slower base movement speed when Shotguns are the active weapon (Walk, Run and Aim Down Sights. Sprint is unaffected.)
Add 2 frames delay when firing out of sprint.
Increase base damage against AI combatants to 1.6x (was 1.55x).

Fusion Rifles
Increase Charge Speed on fast charging Fusion Rifles, but reduce burst damage to compensate
Fusion Rifles behave more predictably based on player state

Reduced Hip Fire Stability for all Fusion Rifles
Increased ADS and Crouched Stability for all Fusion Rifles

Reduction in carried ammo inventory for all Fusion Rifles
Increased base damage against AI combatants to 1.25x (was 1.15x)

Extend Sniper Rifle damage falloff so damage only reduces for very long range shots.
Luck in the Chamber on Sniper Rifles now only buffs precision damage.

Increase ready/stow speed for all Sidearms.

The First Curse
The First Curse perk now refills the magazine when activated, provides better Stability, better Target Acquisition, and damage falloff starts further out while the perk remains active.
+25 to First Curse base range.
Fixed a bug where The First Curse perk would deactivate if the player summoned their Ghost.
Boost to Imprecation base range and magazine size.

Reduce base Range by 20.
Lucky bullets from both Luck in the Chamber and Holding Aces now deal 1.2x bonus damage (was 1.3x).

The Chaperone
Reduce base damage.
Increase precision damage scalar to 1.75x (was 1.1x).

Fabian Strategy
Front Lines perk on Fabian Strategy no longer buffs Rate of Fire as a bonus modifier. Front Lines now increases the base Rate of Fire stat to highest speed. Damage per bullet is offset to match the High RoF archetype.
Removed Extended Mag perk and replaced with Flared Magwell. Removed Small Bore perk and replaced with Rifled Barrel. Needed to make these changes to prevent shipping a magazine bug that could trigger when reloading the weapon while Front Lines perk was active.
Increased base Reload and Stability on the weapon to help offset the removed stat upgrades.

Black Spindle
Removed scope upgrades from Black Spindle talent grid (Spindle only has one scope). Replaced with Barrel upgrades.

Sleeper Simulant
Maximum inventory ammo buffed (from 7 -> 9)
Ammo swap exploit removed (weapon no longer converts one ammo from a different heavy weapon to a full inventory)
Inventory no longer benefits from Fusion Rifle armor perks, but does benefit from Heavy Ammo armor perks.

Other Gaming News

Fallout 4 While Fallout 4 seems to have less glitches than past Bethesda games, there are a few that are plaguing some players. Bethesda has detailed their plans to keep the game updated and fix the problems you may encounter. There will be a beta patch released to Steam players followed by a full release on PC to make sure it doesn’t break anything else. Then it will be released on consoles after further testing. They hope to make more frequent small updates this way instead of waiting for a large update at one time. And by the way, there is one patch getting ready to hit the first of this chain soon.
Just Cause 3 No news for Just Cause 3, just a new trailer. If you haven’t met your weekly requirement of explosions then this should fix that in about 60 seconds. Just Cause 3 releases on December 1st.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided If you were looking forward to getting your hands on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided early next year then we’ve got bad news for you. Eidos Montreal has announced that the release has been delayed from February 23rd to August 23rd to further polish and improve the game. Still, a 6 month delay is quite long for those itching to play it.
Rainbow Six: Siege If you didn’t get a chance to play the closed Rainbow Six: Siege beta then this is your chance to see what you missed. Ubisoft has announced an open beta for all platforms starting November 25th through the 29th. The full game releases on December 1st, so this is more of a free trial to test the servers than an actual beta. A live action trailer has also been released with all the Hollywood explosions and action you could expect. Watch it below.

NBA 2K16 It’s a free play weekend for Xbox owners which means you’ll get free access to NBA 2K16. From this morning until Sunday at 11:59 PM all Xbox One players can play the full game absolutely free of charge. Like past free weekends, gamerscore and achievements can be earned so keep that in mind if you don’t want to get started and not be able to finish without buying the full game.
Need for Speed The reboot of the Need for Speed franchise has had one painfully obvious flaw since the beta came out a few weeks before release. The A.I. cars have a very strong rubberband effect, more so than I’ve seen in any racing game before it. Ghost Games plans to fix that annoyance with an update coming later this month. Alongside this change will be 3 additional achievements/trophies, a REP increase and general bug fixes.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Attention all zombie slayers! This weekend is awarding double XP in Black Ops 3 for multiplayer and zombie modes. It’s been active since yesterday and ends Monday afternoon at 1pm EST. Get to slaying!

Xbox It’s that time again. Xbox is having a massive sale for Black Friday, and Gold members are getting early access. Starting today Gold members can check out the deals of more than 150 games. Silver members will be getting their chance on November 24th, so it’s not much longer to wait. For the list of games on sale check out the Deals of the Week section. Also, here is a brief tease of some games in the sale.

Deals of the Week

There are so many deals this week that I’ve gone on strike. No individual links this time, just the block post from Major Nelson. First of all we have the regular weekly sales that can be found here. Those alone are a little more than usual. Nothing really stands out as a fantastic deal though.

Now for the massive Black Friday sale. As mentioned before, Gold members get early access starting today and get an extra 10% off. There are quite a few good deals if you don’t have them. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is 60% off which is excellent when you consider it’s two games already at a reduced price. A Forza 6 and Gears Ultimate twin pack is available for the same price as buying one in the store after tax. The Master Chief Collection is down to $30, which is a good price considering it’s working far better than when it first came out. Need for Speed is down to nearly half price and only released two weeks ago. And what could be the best deal of all is the Telltale Games Collection in the $40 range which gives you every episode of every game they’ve made so far. And that’s just the Xbox One deals! Look into the 360 deals as well and see what you’re interested in. They’re still adding games to backwards compatibility so it may eventually be added.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but avoid Forza 6 for now. Some stores will be selling a copy at a cheaper price in their sales. All the other sales seem to be in the same ballpark as what will be offered.
