We had a lot of news this week from E3. So much, in fact, that this is only part one of a two part update. Each conference is covered entirely, in a much shorter form for those that want the biggest details. Take a look at what EA, Microsoft and Bethesda had to show this year.
For some reason Microsoft decided not to have any Halo during their E3 conference this year. However, there was an announcement the next day for a new expansion coming to Halo Wars 2. Not what people wanted to hear, but it is a collection of story missions, a new firefight mode and a couple new leaders. It’s not included in the season pass so keep that in mind. Other Gaming News
This year Madden NFL 18 is getting a story mode called “The Long Shot.” It’s similar to The Journey From FIFA 17, but obviously in a different sports career and person. For better details on this single player story I’d suggest you check it out in our blog post.
Not much was covered in Battlefield 1, but they did announced 8 new maps and etc. For more details check it out right here.
At E3 it was revealed that the Journey will return in FIFA 18, and it will be titled The Journey: Hunter Returns. For more details on The Journey: Hunter Returns check it out right here.
Need for Speed Payback made an appearance, but they really didn’t add anything new besides a gameplay trailer. If you’re a fan of the Burnout series or the Fast and the Furious then this trailer could appeal to you. Check it out here.
A new game from Hazelight studios features a cooperative focused story of two inmates as they try to work together in order to get out of prison for their own reasons. It’s made with couch co-op in mind, but online support is included. You can check it out here.
A new IP from BioWare was briefly teased during the EA conference called, Anthem. Hardly anything was said except that more details would come from the Microsoft conference, and a brief teaser. Check the Microsoft section for the link to our blog post about it.
At EA Play, EA officially unveiled NBA Live 18. The game will feature a new career mode called The One that will let people play pro basketball in the NBA as well as pickup games on real-life street basketball courts. Like most Career Mode in Sports games, you’ll be able to create your own player in “The One” and customize his look by earning new gear as you progress through the mode. Starting on the 10th EA Access, Origin Access and select PlayStation 4 EA game trials will be free until June 18. For those of you who don’t have any new games to play I recommend you take advantage of this great opportunity.

The main event for EA’s conference was the big reveal of multiplayer for Star Wars Battlefront II. A full match was shown that lasted almost 15 minutes with commentators describing some of the new classes and abilities. It’s much better to watch than explain so be sure to check that out on our blog. It was also announced that the DLC this time will be free so there will be no population splitting every few months.
The elephant in the room kicked off the Microsoft conference this year. Project Scorpio is no more, instead being renamed the Xbox One X. With all the power and specs being out for months the biggest missing detail was the price. The Xbox One X will be available November 7th for $499 USD. You can read more about it here.
Turn 10 came out to announce Forza Motorsport 7, but they also revealed the 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS to the world. The Forza presentation really wasn’t about the game as much as it was showcasing the graphical power of the Xbox One X. New additions include an improved rain system, driver customization and what they claim to be the largest selection of Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari in any game. Forza Motorsport 7 will be available October 3rd, or September 29th if you buy the Gold edition.
A new game coming to the Metro Franchise was announced this week at E3. The game is titled “Metro Exodus” a sequel to Metro: Last Light. The title is coming to both Xbox One and PC in 2018. I’m sure many of you were surprised when this game was announced. For more details on Metro Exodus, check it out in our blog post.
The worst kept secret of E3 had to be Assassin’s Creed: Origins. Taking place in Egypt, you play as Bayek as he creates what becomes known as the Brotherhood of Assassins. Gaining some new RPG elements like loot drops, skill trees and levels there’s plenty of things to checkout. The game is coming October 27th, and we have all the details here.
A PC hit coming to Xbox is Player Unknowns Battlegrounds. In this title you join a large group of players in a battle royal format with the goal of being the last one standing. See the trailer and a bunch of other games in our Indie Bundle post.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a gun toting, mining dwarf? Well now’s your chance. Deep Rock Galactic drops you into a procedurally generated world with up to four players for various missions. It will be coming to game preview some time next year. State of Decay 2 had a new trailer showing the different zombies, characters and difficult choices you’ll have to make. If you’re interested in the details you can go to Xbox’s Official Website and you can watch the trailer below.
Another new game that was announced is The Darwin Project. Basically think of the Hunger Games for Overwatch characters and you’ve got the basic idea. Players spread out at the start to gather supplies and the arena will incrementally shrink over time as outer zones become dangerous to the players. Last one alive wins. Minecraft came out to share the big news of cross play. Players on all platforms, except PlayStation, can connect and build together on shared servers. Also being added is a new Super Duper Graphics Pack which adds 4K visuals for improved visuals. As odd as that sounds it does look fantastic. You can check that out here.
Bandai Namco officially announced Dragon Ball Fighter Z for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC during the Microsoft E3 2017 press conference. It will launch worldwide in early 2018. The game plays similar to Marvel Vs Capcom 2/Street Fighter, but with better graphics and only Dragon Ball Z characters. For more details on the game you can head over to our blog post.
Black Desert is the start of another Indie title block. It is an MMORPG coming early next year. There’s hardly any details beyond that so check out the trailer in our Indie Bundle post.

The Artful Escape is a platforming story of a man trying to become a famous musician. There’s no details beyond the trailer and not even a hint of when to expect it. See the trailer in the Indie Bundle post.
A new title from Bandai Namco called Code Vein appears to be an anime version of the Dark Souls games with all the difficulty you’d expect. If that’s enough to catch your interest then be sure to watch the trailer here.
Rare was back to show the latest adventure of the upcoming Sea of Thieves title. With almost 10 minutes of new footage you get to see the necessity of cooperative play, problem solving and communication. Treasure hunters have to be careful because holding a chest or a lantern leaves you vulnerable to attack with no way to defend yourself. Tacoma returned with the news of an August 2nd release date. The adventure on an abandoned space station could make for an interesting mystery. The 30 second trailer was really just a reveal for the release date, but if you want to check it out then visit the Indie Bundle post.
A new exclusive for Xbox One is Super Lucky’s Tail. Just think of the 3D Mario adventure titles with the main character being a fox. That’s basically what it is, down to the coin collecting and platforming. It might be worth checking out so view the trailer here.
At E3 the Indie game Cuphead finally got a release date of September 29.
The game was announced way back in 2014, the game had a place at this year’s Microsoft press event with a trailer featuring Terry Crews, who stars as Commander Jaxon. The game will feature up to four player co-op. The game will be released on Nov. 7 alongside the Xbox One X. The developer of the game is now listed as Sumo Digital. Crackdown 3 will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning it will be available on Xbox One and Windows PC. Unfortunately, that’s all the information that was provided. Here’s a video:
Ashen made another appearance just to remind people it’s still out there. Nothing really new to add except for a little combat being shown. Still no release window for the RPG. For the last time, you can see more of the game in our Indie Bundle post.
For those of you wondering Life is Strange: Before the Storm is the prequel to Life is Strange, and it will launch August 31 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, publisher Square Enix announced at E3. For more details on the game, head here.

Ori will be getting a sequel named Ori and the Will of the Wisps. The challenging platformer is known for its beautiful art style, engaging music and moving story. Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be an Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive title with play anywhere support. Take a moment to see the trailer below.
As the show was coming to an end Phil walked on stage and revealed a surprise for the backward compatibility program. Starting later this year original Xbox games will be added to the program. Even if there isn’t a digital copy available, you will be able to use the disc in your Xbox One. Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge was the first title announced for the program with Fusion Frenzy being mentioned the next day.
Teased in the EA conference and closing out the Microsoft conference was a gameplay reveal for Anthem. This new game from BioWare puts you in control of an exosuit as you go out beyond the walls to face dangers and solve problems for the people of the city. The gameplay showed a range of suit types that can be used with four players being able to join together for some cooperative play. It seems to be meant as a competitor for Destiny or The Division type games, but we didn’t get a lot of news on it. Here’s the link to our news post with the gameplay reveal below.
Bethesda showed off Doom VFR at the company’s E3 keynote. Doom VFR is described as a “new virtual reality game” from id Software. It’s coming to PlayStation VR and Vive platforms. You can head here to see the trailer and more details on the game.
The game, first announced at last year’s Bethesda E3 showcase, is coming to the HTC Vive in October. Again this year Bethesda showed us what exactly the world of Fallout 4 looks like in virtual reality with the first Fallout 4 VR trailer, shown during its E3 press conference. Bethesda opened up their E3 press conference by showcasing the latest expansion of its The Elder Scrolls Online MMORPG, Morrowind, and showed off some new DLC coming to the game later this year. For more details on the announced DLC’s, you can go to the Official Website and see the trailer as well.
Bethesda Games Studio is launching Creation Club, a service for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, this summer. Bethesda’s new Creation Club will contain a series of mods developed for Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition both by Bethesda and “outside developers,” including those from the games’ communities. Heroes of Skyrim, a new expansion for Bethesda’s Strategy card game The Elder Scrolls: Legends was announced during Bethesda’s E3 Conference. For more details on the expansion you can go to the games Official Website.
Bethesda Softworks revealed new details about the Nintendo Switch version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim during their pre-E3 2017 press conference, including the fact that players will be able to dress up like Link from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Bethesda surprised Dishonored fans by announcing a new standalone story instead of DLC for Dishonored 2. Death of the Outsider follows the story of Billie Lurk after the events of the other games. With new abilities and the most daring mission yet, you’ll be in for something interesting. Check out the reveal trailer and more on our blog. Death of the Outsider will be available September 15th for $29.99.
Quake Champions will add Wolfenstein hero B.J. Blazkowicz to its growing roster of heroic characters. The team at id Software also announced a $1 million Quake World Championship tournament on August 26 at QuakeCon in Dallas, Texas. For more details on the game you can head here.
Many people already had a feeling that The Evil Within would get a sequel and it turned out to be true. The game looks creepy, I’ll admit that. If you’re interested in more details on the game I’d suggest you head over to our blog post.
A surprise revealed was shown at Bethestha’s E3 Conference and that was Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. It is shown in the trailer that BJ Blazkowickz survived the events from the first game. For more details on the game head over to our blog post.
