Black Ops III Big news dropped this week for Call of Duty players on the old consoles. The upcoming Black Ops III will not have the campaign included for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game. It will still include the multiplayer and zombie modes, but no story. As a result, the game will be a reduced price of $49.99 and include a digital copy of the first Black Ops.
Rise of the Tomb Raider We got another trailer for Rise o the Tomb Raider this week. While I doesn’t offer much in the way of news about the game, it is a nice preview of how it will look from a cinematic perspective.

Major Nelson also got his hands on the Achievement List for Rise of the Tomb Raider and shared them with us. To avoid any spoilers over here, you’ll just have to head over to his blog to read the list for yourself.

Star Wars Battlefront This is the news you are looking for. EA has announced the dates for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront beta, and it’s very soon. Starting October 8th through the 12th you will be able to play three different game modes on three different maps. First will be the massive 40 player Walker Assault mode on the iconic Hoth. Next is Drop Zone, which seems to be a capture and defend objective for 16 players, on Sullust. And finally is a wave defense Survival Mission on Tatooine. Best of all, the beta is open to all so anyone will be able to download and play.
Hitman IO Interactive has announced that their biggest game to date, HITMAN, will be delayed from its December 2015 launch date to a new launch in March 2016. The reason for the delay is to follow a new launch model and bring in more content to the game at launch, while allowing more frequent updates post-launch. To give a sense of scale when it comes to the amount of content in the game compared to previous installation in the series, IO shared a picture comparison of the Paris Showstopper mission and the Streets of Hope, the largest mission in Absolution to show just how much more detailed the game is going to be.

Dragon Age: Inquisition After the recent release of the final DLC for Dragon Age: Inquisition, the Trespasser, Bioware has announced that the game will be getting a Game of The Year Edition. The RPG that deserves the new edition, after winning over 130 Game of the Year awards last year will release the new Edition complete with each DLC pack. It will release on October 8th so you can watch the trailer in the meantime.

Xbox The new set of free games available for Gold members in October were announced this week with one game being available on both platforms. Xbox One owners can get Valiant Hearts starting on the first while 360 owners will be getting Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. From the 16th through the end of the month both systems will be getting the complete first season of Telltale Game’s The Walking Dead. For more information on these games check out our blog post.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate A new story trailer dropped this week for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate which gives a brief introduction for each of the main villains. You’ll likely end up killing everyone mentioned so don’t watch it if you want to avoid spoilers. It’s mainly some cinematic clips from the game with no new details so you won’t miss a thing by not watching it.

Gears of War Ultimate Edition Earlier this week, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition’s multiplayer was patched to improve several instances of multiplayer. Gnasher fanatics, which is pretty much everybody, and achievement hunters can rejoice as the improvements help out in these respects. Here’s what the devs did:
General improvements to the consistency of the Gnasher.
– Gnasher pellets now always shoot in a consistent pattern.
– Removed “Idle State” from MP which could cause shooting trajectory to be more random.
– Fixed a bug where some Gnasher shots were reporting as headshots incorrectly

The Coalition Commentary: “We wanted to improve the Gnasher by focusing on producing a consistent shot, so players can better predict and estimate the damage they are doing to opponents. We’ve done this by changing the Gnasher from a randomized pellet spread to the same shape spread. This will help reduce occurrences where you do less or more damage than expected, and also help players calculate their damage expectations during gunfights more accurately and consistently.
Additionally, we’ve also removed the “Idle State” from Multiplayer, which could result in your first shot landing off center if you hadn’t aimed or fired your weapon after a small period of time”

• THIS! IS! ANNEX! and Nub Pwn3r Achievements can now be earned in any ring based game mode such as King of the Hill, Blitz, and Annex
• THIS! IS! ANNEX! – Complete 100 matches in ring-based game types on Xbox Live and capture 3 objectives in each match.
• NUB PWN3R – Win 20 rounds in ring-based game types on Xbox Live by shutting out the opposing team
• Achievement descriptions have been updated to reflect these new unlock conditions.

The Coalition Commentary: “We heard our fans loud and clear to spread these achievements across all ring game types – and we’ve also modified the achievement to work in one round scenarios which is how most of our ring types are available in public. For players looking to get some more playing time with others in on Annex, we’re currently looking at potential ways to incorporate Annex in future playlists or community events.”

• Improvements to player spawn locations for Blitz and King of the Hill on the following maps:
– War Machine
– Old Bones
– Gridlock
– Process

The Coalition Commentary: “We’ve made further improvements to Blitz and King of the Hill spawns based on the feedback from the community as well as our ESL Pre-Season cup series. We’ve adjusted some of the spawn locations on the four maps listed to provide a more competitive, fair experience – such as removing the front door spawn when the frags are the active hill on Mansion, or the top-side spawn on War Machine.”

• Fixes for invisible collision on some Multiplayer maps including:
– Mansion: Area around Boomshot
– Clocktower: Debris at top middle of map
The Coalition Commentary: “The two Mansion changes were made to restore some of the legacy Lancer angles around Boomshot, allowing for more variety in the way teams can challenge and pressure teams for power weapon control. The Clocktower fix also restores some angles in the top side over the debris that were previously available in Gears of War 1”.

• Reduced flinching (camera shake) when taking damage in Multiplayer to be consistent with Gears 1
• Changed Re-Up system to retain unlocked characters when “re-upping” (Player Level in Multiplayer)
• Spectator Mode now displays match score in the HUD
• Audio improvements for footstep and movement sounds behind the player
• Improvements to server stability
• Fixed a crash when muting players with a spectator in the game
• Fixed a bug where dead bodies could sometimes cause players to roll instead of move into cover
• General bug fixes and improvements

As a way to make the best of this patch, there will be Double XP all weekend in ring gamemodes in multiplayer. The playlists that utilize this are “King of the Hill” and “Blitz.” You have until the end of Sunday to utilize the Double XP.
