Back in June, Microsoft announced Clubs, Looking for Group and Arena as features coming to the Xbox One in the near future. Today, most of those are available to all with the Holiday update and even more. All features in this update have been, or will be, pushed to be downloaded on Xbox One, Windows 10, and the Android or iOS Xbox app. Here’s the list of each of the new features as well as some videos that detail how some of them work. If you want to skip the reading, you can just watch the summary video of everything that’s available in the video below.
Clubs are gamer-created and managed groups that can help you meet people and grow communities of gamers who love the same things you do. Anyone can join or create a Club, and you’ll probably see a Club for just about everything. If you do not, creating a Club is quick and easy.
Essentially a clubhouse for anything you’re interested in. A maximum of 25 clubs can be joined with an internal LFG, Club Chat and activity feed to share to as the main features.
Looking for Group
If you want to play something in co-op but nobody is around, this is for you. Simply fill out what you want in the required places and after being posted anyone can see your request and show their interest. On the other hand, you can browse a list of what players are currently looking for to see if someone already wants to do the same. The LFG feature can be found in each Club, which will only advertise to that Club, or in the game hub of each game. There’s a lot more to it and you can see how it works in detail below.
Achievement Rarity, a top fan request on Xbox Feedback, helps you discover just how unique an Achievement is among players of a given game. When you earn a rare Achievement, you’ll get a special notification and diamond icon highlighting it.
This feature shows you the percentage of Xbox players who have earned achievements compared to the overall number of players that own that game. Anything that shows less than 10% have earned will be marked with a diamond to signify the rarity, as well as a unique unlock animation and sound when it is earned.
Group Messaging helps you coordinate and keep in touch with your friends and fellow gamers by sending a single group message to everyone in a single conversation. You can also add people to the group and dynamically change the conversation topic. Group Messaging works across Xbox One and the Xbox app on Windows 10, iOS, and Android devices. To help you write your messages even faster on Xbox One, we have added a new predictive dictionary which you can quick access with the right thumb stick on your controller.
Basically a group text. If multiple people need to be involved in the discussion you simply add them to the message and everyone can see what the others are saying.
We’ve improved the Gamerscore Leaderboard on Xbox One and the Xbox app on Windows 10 devices. The Leaderboard now resets at the beginning of each month instead of displaying results for a 30-day rolling period, meaning you and your friends will have a clean slate to compete against one another at the start of each month! You can keep an eye on the Gamerscore Leaderboard through the Achievements tab in your profile.
Emojis for your Xbox One virtual keyboard
Emojis will be joining your virtual keyboard on Xbox One! In addition to the existing alphabet and symbols that you can use, you’ll now be able to express your likes, dislikes and more with a host of different emojis on Xbox Live. Once on your virtual keyboard, you can get to emojis by pulling the left trigger until they show up. From there, select any emoji, or press and hold on one to see more related emoji.
